Job Description

Main objective / purpose of the role:

This role supports the Finance Manager and Finance Director in the analysis and reporting of South Africa financial accounts. The role further supports the responsible business units (cost centers) with detailed analysis of their related performance.

Key responsibilities / outputs and its respective activities/input:

  • Ensure that Stryker’s Compliance and Ethics program is followed at all times and that there is strict adherence to the Code of Conduct in all interactions
  • Responsible for providing regular feedback on performance of cost centers and allocated business units.
  • Identification of & monitoring cost saving opportunities and driving these through the business by implementing/monitoring strategic operational initiatives.
  • Performance of month end close analysis  in with adherence to reporting deadlines including preflash calls
  • Review & reconciliation of daily sales reports
  • Responsible for CER preparations
  • Responsible form margin and volume analysis of sales for allocated business units
  • Preparation of quarterly forecasts & annual budgets for all cost centers/ business units, sales, orders and margins
  • Provide guidance to junior team members on monthly activities and requests from the business
  • Provide training to junior team members and review related work.
  • Preparation of monthly cost Centre reporting to the business (BU P/L) & presentation of such.
  • Preparation of periodic business review reports
  • Perform ad hoc requests and queries as requested by Management, the business, regional and corporate team
  • Pro-actively perform tasks and create reports to assist Management, the business, regional and corporate team
  • Responsible for internal controls relating to FP &A
  • Development of dashboards to provide to management and the business to assist with cost savings and inventory analysis
  • Close collaboration with any stakeholders
  • Commission calculation preparation
  • Power BI maintenance
  • Shipments meetings and to provide the information to the regional team
  • Monthly preparation of management slides
  • Quarterly reporting schedule submission
  • Support deals and new product margins
  • Support to audit where applicable
  • RA Assessment

Functional Knowledge / Talents

Academic qualifications / degree & relevant prior experience:

Key talents /strengths for the role:

  • Degree holder in Accounting required and/or Finance CA(SA) preferred.
  • At least 5 years post qualified accounting experience
  • Knowledgeable in SA GAAP / IFRS (US GAAP also preferred)
  • High Level of competence on Microsoft Package
  • Proficient with ERPs (MFG Pro would be advantageous)
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookup formulas, etc.)
  • Resourceful self-starter requiring minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines
  • Detail oriented and analytical
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to communicate at all levels both verbally and in writing
  • Focus on continuous improvement
