The primary responsibilities include providing financial guidance, ensuring budgets meet the organization’s financial targets, analyzing business problems/scenarios and recommending solutions.  This position works closely with the Joint Replacement R&D organization and requires significant analytical ability, attention to detail, focus on continually improving reporting, and a drive for complete accuracy in work product. Job Responsibilities

  • Provide financial guidance and assistance to every level of business function(s) assigned
  • Ensure budgets and forecasts meet organization's financial targets.
  • Manage multiple projects' financial performance against plan, insuring accuracy, communication to leadership of performance and appropriate revisions to plan.
  • Provide resource management awareness to business functions assigned and ensure functional activities and financial commitments are aligned.
  • Provide timely explanations of department operating expense variances between actual results and forecasts/budget both verbally and in periodic reports.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and perform special projects up to senior level management
  • Assist business customers in CER formulation and perform financial review of all CER and DAR requests.
  • Identify and modify internal financial infrastructure to align with organizational changes, as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of and explanation of the P&L to management.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and formulate required accruals in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain balance sheet accounts associated with business unit assigned (e.g., prepaid maintenance contracts) and complete balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with prescribed format and timelines.

What you need

  • 5+ years of experience in a financial environment, and/or diversified accounting experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Finance related field, and/or Economics.  Prefer CPA, CFA and/or Master's Degree in Business Administration or Finance. 
  • 2+ years demonstrated successful experience (in the medical device or relevant industry is an advantage but not a pre-requisite)
  • Demonstrated communication, customer service and analytical skills
  • Experience of working within a Sarbanes Oxley compliant organization
  • Excellent organizational skills and knowledge in the use of current office technologies (MSOffice suite, PowerBI, databases, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate issues identified and make corrective actions independently or raise awareness to supervisor with proposal of corrective actions to be taken
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on teams
  • Demonstrated ability to apply financial knowledge directly to area of responsibility as well as identify potential impacts to up/down stream areas of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, communicate (both verbally and in writing) up through mid-level management.
  • Demonstrated ability to present information to a medium sized audience of peers and/or mid-level management and build
