Job Description

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Partner closely with Distribution and Supply Chain Optimization, Field Finance, Regulatory, and Human Resources to drive national supply chain initiatives and area and local operational excellence with Area Vice President, General Managers, Sales and Branch Ops Managers.

Quality First

  • Share best practices within area and ensure compliance with field quality management system and other regulatory requirements to drive improvement in inventory accuracy and traceability.
  • Mentor area on how to execute product actions efficiently and accurately.
  • Eliminate product expiration risk within area by implementing practices aimed at timely and accurate replacement of expiring product.
  • Apply 4D and other problem solving techniques to address breakdowns in the field and share resulting best practices.

Customer Experience

  • Regular interaction, in person or by phone, with Area Vice President to drive operational excellence at the area level.  Focus on Quality First, Customer Experience, Innovation, People Development and Financial Results.
  • Meet in person or by phone at least quarterly with each branch/agency General Manager – Sales and Branch Operations Manager to drive operational excellence at the local level.  Focus on Quality First, Customer Experience, Innovation, People Development and Financial Results.
  • Provide pre- and post-communication to ensure key action items are captured and people responsible are identified (used for AVP and branch reviews).
  • Conduct regular area meetings, conference calls and web meetings to drive operational consistency across area.
  • Analyze and drive improvement across operations and supply chain within region.
  • Drive equity deal operational excellence through the gathering and dissemination of best practices.
  • Create and track key metrics (e.g. inventory turns, service levels, etc.) to drive field operational improvements.
  • On an as needed basis, provide temporary operational support (e.g. BOM turnover, new BOM, poor operation, etc.).  Focus should be on getting leadership and support in place so branch becomes self-sustaining.

Innovation

  • Partner with Supply Chain Optimization team to implement supply chain innovation at the area and local levels.
  • Seek out operational best practices within area and nationally and apply to area and local operations as appropriate.
  • Identify and implement IT solutions to improve productivity; act as field “super user” by becoming subject matter expert for new tools (e.g. ERP) and spreading knowledge throughout the field.

People Development

  • Assist AVP, General Managers – Sales and Branch Operations managers by regularly updating area and local productivity models and driving solid workforce planning and hiring decisions.
  • Educate and train appropriate branch personnel to ensure implementation of corporate policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with national Training and Development team to execute national operations training strategies within area.

Financial Results

  • Partner with Field Finance, HR, AVP, General Manager – Sales and Branch Operations Manager to make the best decisions possible regarding future leases and space requirements.
  • Support and provide guidance to a group of branches/agencies, resulting in achievement of operational excellence while supporting top-line sales growth and achievement of operating income and cash flow targets.
  • Assist with field operations budgeting process and attainment of cost targets by implementing lean operations practices.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 5 - 10 years in supply chain, logistics, distribution, and customer service experience.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, managerial and diplomatic skills/talents; demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Applications
  • Prefer ERP experience (Oracle, AP, etc.)
  • Ability to influence and lead a team of non-direct reports and cross-functional associates to achieve desired operational results
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Ability to apply technical applications to business processes.
  • Proven track record of process improvements based on sound problem-solving practices is highly desirable.
  • Self-starter, self-motivator with the ability to work remotely.
