Job Description

Who we want:

  • Qualify new equipment, tooling and fixtures including FAT execution at vendor
  • Research, source and recommends new equipment
  • Assist with equipment installation including coordinating with cross-functional teams, e.g., Facilities, Microbiology, etc.
  • Maintain engineering documentation compliance using site-specific data management systems (i.e., PLM).
  • Assist engineers in validating new design development processes.
  • Maintain complex test equipment, train staff on its operations, and schedule necessary calibration or preventative maintenance.
  • Actively participate in project team meetings.  Coordinate and monitor project task execution and project progress against deliverables.
  • Identify new vendors to acquire necessary supplies, materials, equipment and tools for specific projects.
  • Build quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Write and/or verify specifications based on assembly drawing or electrical schematics.
  • Contribute original concepts to the development of advanced medical device prototypes.
  • Contribute original concepts to the development of tooling and fixtures as required for fabrication/prototyping of advanced medical devices.
  • Install development/pilot lines, as required by R&D, used for design/pre-design verification builds of neurovascular devices.


  • Two-year Degree (i.e., AA, Certificate) or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years' of technical work experience in medical device development.
  • Medical Device (R&D/Production) experience desired
  • In-depth knowledge of PLM or equivalent electronic documentation system
  • Working knowledge of asset introduction including IQ and OQ protocol/report generation
  • Experience with electronic, electro-mechanical troubleshooting methodology
  • Familiarity with drafting standards and CAD platform(s)
  • Fixture and tooling design experience
  • Working knowledge of machining technology, such as lathes, vertical mills, etc.
  • Experience working with external vendors
  • Working knowledge related to equipment, material and technology sourcing
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
