WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Stryker’s Sustainability Solutions (SSS) is the leading provider of reprocessing and remanufacturing services for single-use medical devices.

As a member of Stryker's Sustainability Solutions Leadership Team, the Director, Research and Development will lead the new process development efforts and manage a global team across Arizona, Florida, and India for this growing Division. Strong people leadership and a solid understanding of product and process development within the medical device area are critical.  The Division's technical development includes hardware, software, metallurgy, reverse engineering, cleaning/sterilization, and process development.

  • Provide leadership and management for research and development programs and activities. Direct R&D efforts to enhance current products and develop new technologies and products.
  • Manage and provide leadership for technical capability development in alignment with strategic planning and business needs.
  • Understand workforce planning to drive efficiency and capacity in product development and product maintenance.
  • Ensure Design Control requirements are established, maintained, and adhered to as appropriate based on the scope of R&D activity.
  • Interact with other departments to facilitate strategic planning and execution relative to product development, product maintenance, new product introduction, and business development.
  • Evaluate and develop improved methods and frameworks to drive efficiency and capacity for R&D activities.
  • Directly responsible for implementation and maintenance of company R&D procedures, reporting on the performance and initiating improvements for R&D.
  • Design Control management.
  • Vendor selection for R&D.
  • Develop test method capabilities to support R&D and production test requirements.
  • Act as liaison with external parties on matters relating to the procurement of services and materials for the company R&D activities.
  • Manage the development of new product lines, increased turns, expansion of existing product lines, and the continuous improvement in existing product lines.
  • Provide necessary training on Design Control and departmental procedures.
  • Recruiting, development, and structuring of the R&D department.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Qualifications (Education, Certifications and/or Experience)

  • BS degree is required/MS or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7+ years management experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years of medical device manufacturing, FDA, or other regulated industry experience.
  • Must have 510(k) and premarket submission experience.
  • Effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of FDA (GMP/QSR), MDD, and ISO requirements.
  • Strong mentorship and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Proven abilities as a leader and R&D manager.
  • Experience in successfully managing individual contributors, leaders of others, and teams.
  • Ability to interact within all levels of the organization.
