Job Summary:

  • Designs, develops and implements sales programs to meet the organization's business objectives.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates the efforts of sales toward the accomplishment of objectives. 
  • This is a management position that contributes and achieves results through others.
  • The role is responsible for managing subordinates in professional jobs or managing through subordinate managers / supervisors or is a leader of process that achieves results through others, whom are not direct reports.
  • Job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding in multiple disciplines relevant to the business. 
  • The job is expected to establish strategic plans and/or operational programs that require a sound understanding of the underlying theories underpinning the subject area.
  • The job has full management responsibility including the management of numerous teams of managers/professionals, planning for the teams' future needs and operations. There will be financial accountability for independent budgets.
  • This job typically requires a degree or equivalent and a minimum of 10 or more years experience.
  • 70% Travel

  • Manages all sales efforts, giving priority to strategically launching new products or services into the market and ensuring customer service standards are high and continually improving.
  • Set sales objectives and marshals the necessary resources to achieve them. These resources may include educational programs, product development initiatives, sales strategies and most importantly, a trained, organized salesforce.
  • Shapes the organization’s sales policies and objectives.
  • Fosters a culture and environment that makes their area a destination for top performers.
  • Guides, leads or participates in selling complex solutions to HCPs and hospital administrators.
  • Accurately forecasts sales trends and commitments.
  • Manages a profitable, cost-conscious business, including DII, inventory, DSO, T&E, pricing, and contracts.
  • Executes territory allocation, develops market-based quotas, designs motivating compensation plans and manages to them.
  • Guides, develops and manages a team of regional managers, and coaches, teaches and motivates sales representatives to achieve performance objectives.
  • Conducts win/loss analyses to understand key drivers and communicates these concisely and regularly to product, marketing and executive management.

Qualifications/ Work Experience Required:

  • 5+ years experience in outside sales with a minimum of two years of Regional management experience.  Minimum of two years medical device industry related experience.
  • Ability to analyze regional and territorial potential.
  • Ability to recognize and recruit sales and managerial talent.
  • Ability to generate and explain compensation programs, quota assignments, and territory realignments.
