WHAT YOU WILL DO:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This critical role, fully supported by our leadership team, will define and drive company-level Corporate Responsibility (CR)Strategy, including the support of Stryker’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program.  You will create and develop reporting, communications and external relations with various stakeholder groups; using your passion and inspiration to helps us prosper in a competitive and changing global environment.   You will lead the CR Steering Committee and Workstreams to advance our CR program, develop communications and manage relations with rating companies and share results with internal and external stakeholders through various channels. Collect and verify information from across the organization (business, regions and functions) to develop stakeholder specific material such as company marketing materials, case studies and presentations. You will be a leader on a high performing team that is responsible for building our global company brand and reputation.

  • Respond to customer inquiries about corporate responsibility, sustainability strategy and performance. Provide support for the development of responses to inquiries from investors, media, government entities and agencies.
  • Maintain external sustainability site, ensuring content is current and relevant. Support the development of our annual corporate responsibility/sustainability report, manage existing CR content for Connect (intranet) and Stryker.com and develop guidelines for contributing departments to ensure content is current and applicable, in accordance with our brand and on-line governance guidelines.
  • Develop content for internal and external communications channels to further engage associates with our corporate responsibility and sustainability goals. Provide support and collaborate across functions, businesses and regions to align strategy and gather information for internal and external communications.  
  • Develop and maintain database of relevant information and success proof points.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • B.S. / B.A. Preferably in environmental science, environmental policy, sustainability / CSR or related field and / or communications or related field required. Master’s degree in business administration, sustainability, communications or related field desired
  • 5+ years of experience working in sustainability / social responsibility or environmental management; or sustainability communications
  • Investor relations and familiarity with major ESG rating agencies desirable
  • The ideal candidate will have a background in communications and / or sustainability, either in industry or consulting
  • Must be a solution-oriented team player who can work independently, but collaboratively, in a small department within a cross-functional / cross-cultural and international business environment
  • Strategic work style and proven ability to work collaboratively at various levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly matrixed organization and is comfortable influencing without authority
  • Highly organized with project management skills
  • Experience developing and presenting recommendations
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS office applications
  • Knowledge of intranet / internet content management systems desired, but not essential
  • Domestic and international travel as required
