The Demand Planner will drive the creation of SKU level forecasts in support of Divisional sales and financial objectives and will create and maintain baseline statistical forecasts for each SKU within the ERP system. The Demand Planner will also work with the Demand Management team to collect sales & marketing and finance-based forecasts, reconcile differences to the baseline forecasts, and ultimately deliver consensus forecasts to drive product availability and high customer service levels while optimizing inventory investment. The forecast provided will be used by the Global Operations organization to help determine manufacturing needs and resources required to meet the demand.

Specific responsibilities of the Demand Planner include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Ensure on time delivery of high quality purchasing/selling forecasts of the Division by SKU and product line. Must analyze all data pertinent to creating the baseline statistical forecast to ensure the correct model is used: historical sales, market trends, seasonality, past promotions, product life cycle
  • Partner with Demand Management function to ensure development and timely delivery of consensus forecast
  • Support Integrated Business Planning (IBP) meetings at Divisional level and leverage best available cross-functional inputs and apply judgment based on knowledge of the business and robust cross-functional discussions
  • Drive for a high standard of customer service and supply chain planning metrics performance by managing forecast error, sizing the optimal inventory levels and meeting the committed inventory investment targets
  • Improve forecast accuracy by effectively analyzing sources of forecast error and recommending appropriate action plans
  • Use Demand Planning tools and technologies and participate in development, modification and improvement of procedures, policies, processes and technologies within the organization
  • Drive flawless supply chain execution for all new product launches and new business plans

Job Requirements

A Bachelor's degree, and hands on work experience with inventory, planning, and MRP systems is required. APICS certification and Six Sigma/Process Excellence training and/or certification are preferred.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:
  • 0-2 plus years of experience in Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing Operations
  • Knowledge of demand management/forecasting tools, forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing and supply chain issues
  • Experience using statistical software packages and must be capable of extensive spreadsheet analysis
  • Strong Excel and Access skills with experience using and an ERP and demand planning system (e.g. Oracle/SAP and Demantra/Demand Solutions) is a plus. SAP experience is highly preferred
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines is a plus: Supply Chain Planning, Demand Management/Forecasting, Logistics, Manufacturing, Procurement, Order Management, Inventory Management and/or Contract Manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and results driven environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate difficult concepts to all levels of the organization
