The Demand Planner will work independently or under little supervision to perform inventory planning, purchasing and other supply chain activities for assigned Stryker product portfolio to achieve customer service and financial goals in a global supply chain context. This includes demand planning, inventory purchasing and control, interfacing with both local and global business leaders and monitoring and reporting of results.
  • Execute daily inventory planning and management functions using the planning model and established system reports
  • Work independently or under little supervision
  • Execute daily purchasing functions by interacting with Stryker authorized suppliers
  • Analyze demand for 2,500+ SKUs and establish safety stock targets based on demand fluctuations, new product introduction, cannibalization, obsolescence, and the demand plan and Net Requirements Plan (NRP)
  • Set up product Item Master for new items
  • Develop and execute inventory build plan to support New Product Launches by working with Marketing, Customer Service, Manufacturing Plant, and the Global IBP Team
  • Develop and track to performance metrics, including service level, inventory health, and backorder tracking
  • Manage inventory under budget and to projections
  • Support Finance with monthly purchase projections as required
  • Participate in freight supplier selection and cost reduction initiatives
  • Partner with Trade Compliance, Transportation Manager, freight supplier and Inbound team to improve customs clearance, transit time, and put away performance
  • Manage returns by appropriately dispositioning products back to the plant
  • Provide input and feedback to plant contacts for Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
  • Participate in monthly IBP (S&OP) process ensuring purchasing activities are synchronized with demand and purchase plans
  • Support development of Drop Shipment and Demand Planning processes
  • Be innovative and perform process improvement activities

Job Requirements

Candidates should possess the following skills/experiences:
  • 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Planning & Procurement activities
  • 2+ years Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP/IBP) experience
  • Demand planning and purchasing experience is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools (Oracle or equivalent) and forecasting programs (Demantra or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment which emphasizes customer service, cross training, team participation, and high accountability to team metrics and standards
  • APICS/NAPM certification is preferred
  • Strong Excel and Access skills with experience using and an ERP and demand planning system (e.g. Oracle/SAP and Demantra)
  • Strong statistical and analytical skills with the ability to communicate ideas and conclusions clearly to a diverse audience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and results driven environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate difficult concepts to all levels of the organization
  • A consensus builder with strong customer service orientation
