Job Description

The Contracts Administrator will be responsible for structuring, and/or administrating contracts with vendors, customers and/or partners. This individual will collaborate with sales and service teams as well as the legal department to structure contracts, and will analyze contracts to ensure compliance with company policy, government specifications and other requirements. Responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, editing, reviewing, and negotiating agreements on behalf of the GQO Organization, with a focus on direct sourcing
  • Supporting internal and external customers in a timely manner and in a fast-paced environment
  • Advising internal customers on contracting, legal, finance, and business strategies as well as company policies and procedures
  • Identifying business and legal risks and proposing solutions for mitigation, escalating issues for legal review and resolution as appropriate, and representing Stryker’s interests professionally and in a solutions-oriented manner
  • Exhibiting solid negotiation skills, including negotiating contract terms directly with suppliers and other parties
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships within the GQO organization and the Global Legal and Compliance function
  • Exercising excellent judgment in identifying and escalating issues to management
  • Developing and maintaining a full understanding of the GQO organization and business units
  • Monitoring and tracking status of contract-related matters and proactively providing updates
  • Becoming proficient in use of Contract Lifecycle Management software and providing training and guidance to others related to its use and adoption
  • Identifying system or process improvements that increase efficiency, compliance, or reduce cost to the business


  • Minimum 5-7 years experience (non-degreed) or 2-4 (degreed).     
  • Possesses and practically applies broad knowledge, skills/abilities, and understanding of disciplines within business application, including contracting, process, and negotiation.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, proactive approach, initiative, and professional and positive demeanor
  • Completes high volume of complex work in a timely and thorough manner with minimal rework
  • Ability to show discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Works under minimal supervision and instruction and demonstrates emerging managerial/influence skills
  • Ability to follow and, as appropriate, educate others on applicable internal processes
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with internal colleagues, business contacts, and where needed, outside parties
  • Possesses effective organization, communication, and learning skills, with ability to manage and prioritize numerous projects and conflicting demands
  • Possesses high proficiency in computer systems and programs such as the Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn Stryker-specific systems
