What you will do

As Continuous Improvement Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and driving continuous improvement process for the Instruments division manufacturing operations team.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and process guidance to the Operations team members
  • Acts as point of contact for management team on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Implement and manage visual daily management system
  • Support continuous improvement of facility and labor standards
  • Coach employees, establish clear priorities and building productive working relationships
  • Plans, organizes, and develops goals for the engineering resources to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/6S methodologies and tools with cross functional teams from inception through implementation of recommendations and solutions
  • Change systems/processes as required in support of the Lean initiatives
  • Participate in gemba walks and coach employees on continuous improvement, standard work development/modification/adherence, flow, takt time attainment, and problem solving abnormalities causing issues
  • Create and provide training specific to Lean Transformation tools and methodology
  • May lead and/or support Capital Plan and development
  • Conduct/facilitate value stream analyses at plant and unit levels
  • Provide communication on the direction of Lean Transformation and daily management initiatives to employees to include; coaching of employees and leaders to drive lean behaviors
  • Assist all teams as needed to ensure plant improvements are made and sustained
  • Implement change management methods to drive the lean culture transformation
  • Demonstrate knowledge in evolving operational and process excellence (Lean, Six Sigma, Design Excellence) concepts and tools.

What you need

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field is required. Master’s Degree preferred as is Lean Manufacturing, Process Excellence/Six Sigma training and/or certification.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experience:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience building and driving continuous improvement culture, processes and standards
  • 2+ years of supervisory/people management experience
  • Knowledge of Lean tools (i.e.: Six Sigma) and demonstrated analytical skills with problem solving and process improvement orientation
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills, with the proven ability to teach and coach others.  Must be comfortable presenting at all levels of the organization
  • Project management skills and proven ability to meet project milestones and deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrated experience in change management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/facilitate cross-functional problem solving teams
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, track and facilitate projects using applicable tools (Gantt and Pert Charts etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience creating and facilitating training initiatives.
