Job Profile: Complex Spine Specialist

The Job's Mission 

The Complex Spine Specialists will form the Complex Spine Unit (CSS) that has responsibility for building and executing business plans in country that are focused on growing the Stryker Complex Spine Business in Europe’s leading University Hospitals

Key Activities & Accountabilities  

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide business analysis and use this analysis to make decisions to drive growth in Complex Spine. Using the Big Picture framework so that it is incorporated into the over-arching country Annual Marketing Plans
  • Identifying and executing the most important tactical elements from the business plan, this requires cross-collaboration, long-term visionary thinking and diligence.
  • Work in complete collaboration with the local sales teams and local and central marketing teams. Will need to manage by influence these key internal stakeholders to enable the fast and effective execution of your business plan.
  • Create and deliver world class training programmes to the internal sales team in the following areas, Complex Spine Pathology, Stryker Complex Spine portfolio, Sales process and Sales Skills (Challenger Model). This is to be done in conjunction with the local teams and the Central Marketing team
  • Build relationships with Complex Spine KOL’s through knowledge and passion that can and will genuinely improve patient outcomes through superior in-theatre support and training programmes. This is to be done in conjunction with the local teams and the Central Marketing team.
  • In-theatre support will be focused on initial case coverage where surgeons are new to the Complex Spine system before handing-over all responsibilities in this area to the local representative. This requires the local rep to be trained by the Complex Spine Specialist both through in-theatre support and in classroom training. On occasion it may be necessary to provide in-theatre support with experienced Surgeons and/or representatives, by delivering a robust internal/external training programme these situations would be limited.
  • Build relationships across the target hospitals in every appropriate department from the C-suite to sterile services including all members of the theatre teams.
  • From the KOL target group develop opportunities to include European surgeons in appropriate projects and create a network of Europe’s most influential Complex Spine surgeons which should in part drive a Surgeon to Surgeon training programme.
  • To significantly increase Stryker Spine’s market share in complex spine and to facilitate the pull-through of the Stryker Degenerative and MIS portfolios.
  • To be a Stryker Ambassador always in all aspects of your work.
  • Promoting and disseminating the culture of compliance (compliance with regulations and ethical behaviour).
  • Fulfill the quality policy and comply with company’s standard operative procedures with attention to those of Vigilance.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or other relevant field of study is required for this position.
  • A proven track record in a Spine sales environment, ideally within Spine or Orthopaedics, other fields will be considered
  • Fluency in Spanish as well as fluent in oral and written English.

Experience 

  • 5+ years Spine sales experience
  • 5+ years Complex Spine Sales experience
  • A proven track record in educating Surgeons and other Sales reps in Complex Spine.
  • A proven track record in sales success in Complex Spine.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong written communication skills and experience with creating educational content and delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence/guide cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a Business Plan directly linked to broader business/divisional goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a subject matter expert for a product or service.
  • Computer literacy: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Electronic mail (E-mail), Intranet, Internet.
