The Job's Mission

The Associate Manager, Compensation & Benefits - International takes responsibility for all matters related to Compensation & Benefits data assembly and analytics, related to Mergers and Acquisitions integration planning and execution, for all regions outside the US.  Ongoing and nimble readiness and ability to establish and utilise data intelligence to support management. This is a 12mth fixed-term contract.

Key Activities & Accountabilities

  • Reporting to the International Total Rewards Leadership Team
  • Understand integration objectives, and document these for Comp/Ben including employment cost management, integration goals (full, partial, immediate, delayed, consistency, differentiation)
  • Gather, validate and maintain the necessary data, including establishing and overseeing processes to refresh data and maintaining the relationships necessary to accomplish these data processes
  • Understand and stay close to the integration related organisation design processes and reflect these decisions in the data management and analysis
  • Include in data assembly and analysis, the readiness to support Recruitment activity and ongoing normal pay decisions e.g. promotions
  • Perform Integration Compensation analysis to include job grading, base and variable (actual and target) quantitive analysis to support decision making, planning, internal alignment, ERB negotiations, and eventual manager and employee communications
  • Understand the SYK and target Benefits and terms/conditions, do or support side/side comparisons
  • Recommend situations of external Benefits analysis requirements e.g. pension or medical plans in side/side scenarios
  • Oversee and ensure adequacy and timeliness of deliverables from externals
  • Oversee accuracy of invoicing from externals
  • Ensure that final Benefits and t/c’s decisions are documented, e.g. acquired employees retain Benefits x y z from target organisation
  • Oversee and ensure completion of all insurance policy cancellations or transfers to SYK including policy signatures
  • Support the International Total Reward team in adhoc projects and day to day activities as required, such as:
    • Job Evaluations
    • Market Surveys
    • Variable Pay plans analytics
    • Salary Recommendations
    • Pay Range construction


  • University degree in Human Resources, or equivalent experience;
  • Good knowledge of compensation and benefits basic principles and practices.


  • 5-7 years’ broad experience in a similar International environment
  • Experience of change management


  • Excellent analytical skills including Excel fluency
  • Demonstrated success in interpreting analysis to identify issues and reach conclusions
  • Demonstrated tolerance for and success operating in a context of ongoing change, and organisational matrix
  • Excellent relationship, communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, knowledge of other European languages an asset.
