Assists with the development and implementation of new and existing communication vehicles.  Writes, edits, reviews and assists in the release of internal communication documents and programs that support the organization. Creates appealing visual communications. Edits and enhances internal communication materials, including intranet, newsletters, emails/memos, presentations, webcasts, podcasts and speeches. Reviews and edits essential internal communications prior to dissemination to ensure accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness.  Ensures a “corporate voice” and visual brand standards permeate communications to employees and stakeholders. Coordinates internal communication efforts with those provided by others who focus on external communications (i.e., marketing communications, investor relations).

  • Research, develop, design and implement messaging across multiple internal communications channels. Content may include written announcements, photography, presentations, surveys, etc.
  • Generate and update content for existing communication vehicles, to include newsletters, intranet sites, television monitors and others as appropriate.
  • Ensure communication is consistent and reflects the mission, values, culture and strategic priorities of the organization.
  • Ensure that messaging and design is consistent with the company’s corporate brand guidelines.
  • Serve as the division brand representative, coordinating between internal functions and businesses and Stryker’s brand office.
  • Work with members of the Communications team on employee communications, design projects and events. 
  • Work with various functions to identify and develop appropriate employee communications.
  • Implement new communications vehicles and establish process for ongoing content generation.
  • Serve as an advisor to internal functions on communications best practices
  • Identify and prioritize communications projects to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Respond to routine inquiries for information
  • Stay abreast of company developments and trends
  • May oversee agencies or contractors for graphic design, video and photography.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in business, marketing or related curriculum/certification, or equivalent.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write on behalf of others, incorporating their style and tone.
  • Must be a creative thinker with strong knowledge of layout and graphic design principles. 
  • Demonstrates ability to condense, organize and convey complex information in a logical, visually pleasing and user friendly manner that is appealing to broad range of audiences. 
  • Can translate raw content, data and stories into compelling written and visual communications, including presentations, infographics and storyboards. 
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Preferred technology experience includes proficient us of PowerPoint design, Publisher, MS Word, and Adobe Creative suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.  Knowledge of Marketo, SharePoint and digital signage platforms are desirable.
  • Knowledge of processes used by print vendors a plus.
  • Ability to advise other functions on communications best practices.  Is comfortable speaking up and providing constructive feedback to people up and down the organizational chart.
  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously under tight timelines and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be approachable, articulate, persuasive, build partnerships, work collaboratively and influence others.
  • Can be trusted to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to present and speak comfortably in front of others
  • 2-5 years communications or marketing experience or equivalent
  • Excellent typing and computer skills.
