What you will do

As a Buyer in our Mahwah, NJ manufacturing facility, you will support the initiatives of the Purchasing department through tactical purchasing functions. In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Contribute to the development of purchasing and strategic plans
  • Participate in cross functional projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Serve as subject matter expert in purchasing functions
  • Assist other team members as needed to ensure customer needs are met
  • Handle all tactical purchasing responsibilities associated with internal/external supply chain partners to maintain a high level of customer service
  • Work with Accounts Payable team to investigate, identify and resolve reasons for non-payment of supplier invoices
  • Generate requisitions and send Purchase Orders to suppliers
  • Maintain accurate dates in the ERP system and ensure all PO maintenance is addressed as needed
  • Ensure pricing is accurate and up to date prior to placing buys with suppliers
  • Provide vendors with rolling 12 month forecast
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple internal business functions to support Stryker initiatives

What you need

  • 2+ years of relative experience in a purchasing related role or Bachelor's degree in lieu of experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to navigate through MS Excel in order to gather data and information needed to help make business decisions
  • Experience or familiarity with large ERP platforms (e.g.: Oracle, SAP)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate financial concepts to a broad spectrum of internal users
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to influence business decisions; must be able to diplomatically persuade others and effectively drive continuous improvement/change
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and be challenged by a team-based environment which places a high degree of emphasis on accountability for quality/GMP compliance, customer service levels, inventory management and cost reduction
