What you will do


The Buyer/Planner will be responsible for the effective management of assigned commodities to achieve on-time delivery, revenue and inventory goals.  Establishing vendor managed inventory (VMI) levels based on the historical and future corporate operating plan, Actively engageing with team members from Strategic Sourcing, Operations, Accounts Payable, Quality, Engineering, Global Distribution Centers and Suppliers in order to develop strong working relationships and resolve issues in a timely manner are the major duties and responsibilities.

  • Work with Demand Planning, Material Coordinators, and our Suppliers to support production build schedules for assigned commodities, by ordering and scheduling materials for delivery in accordance with established Purchasing policies and procedures.
    • Schedule material for delivery to support production build schedule for assigned commodities as required by the MRP system
    • Provide suppliers with drawings when submitting orders, to ensure delivery of compliant material.  Review change orders and communicates drawings, artwork and specifications to the suppliers when updates occur.
    • Maintain purchase order pricing, quantity and delivery date accuracy. 
    • Where appropriate, establish and maintain optimal inventory levels for material on vendor managed inventory (VMI) program working with Demand Planning team and monitoring suppliers for compliance to the agreed-upon levels.
    • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to support VMI program.
  • Facilitate the development of global supply plans between suppliers and Physio distribution centers
  • Work with Sustaining Engineering on planning form/fit/function changes to existing parts to plan change implementation and mitigate potential scrap.
  • Monitor performance of the assigned suppliers and provides input into supplier scorecards.
  • Work with cross-functional team members to develop and maintain supplier business relationships.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business-related field, or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience
  • 1-2 years of relevant procurement experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Experience in Materials Requirements Planning (QAD a plus) preferred
  • Highly-regulated industry experience (Medical Device, Aerospace, Automotive) preferred
  • Business Excellence/Six Sigma Project experience preferred
  • Professional and effective written, oral and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and experience in contract negotiations and administration preferred
  • Demonstrated success in inventory management and reduction
  • Ability to communicate effectively across the organization
