Job Description

The Job's Mission 


The positions leads the Business Control function in Nordic and Benelux. This encompasses the entire business support processes related to local finance support across the BeneNord region, ensuring a “Best in Class” organisation is created and maintained through implementing solutions to further develop, maintain and improve customer satisfaction, reduce cost and optimised finance processes for the local business. A valued business partner to local sales and enabling functions leads in the region.


This role reports to Finance Director: BeneNord and requires a strong partnership with the Finance  team in Nordic and Benelux, the EFSSC,  the European FP&A team and business partners within the local business in BeneNord.


Key Activities & Accountabilities  


Setting Direction:

  • Active member of the Benelux management teams.
  • Participate in country and franchise business reviews and set requirements from a local finance perspective.
  • Monitor regional sales and margins ensuring any adjustments for revenue recognition, rebates, other credit and debit adjustments are properly recorded. Align with the financial controller on accounting aspects.
  • Own process and management of pricing, tenders, discount, free product (samples). Act as the bridge for country divisional support – give Europe Divisional Leaders visibility on what is happening.
  • Drive the Flex Finance process for the region from business validation of offers to follow up the outcome and results.
  • Act as role model to ensure that Finance and the rest of the business is in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations and Stryker’s Code of Conduct.

  • Focus on making local procedural changes and new or more effective ways to accomplish tasks, achieving team goals or performing team functions.
  • Play an active role in the broader European Finance team as we strive to implement a world class finance function.
  • Take ownership or participate in projects to further improve finance processes.
  • Participate in discussions with local leadership to ensure support for business decisions are available when needed.
  • Build, liaise and maintain relationships and collaborates with colleagues across functions (Operations, HR, Compliance etc.), divisions (Sales, Marketing) and leadership.

Inspiring Others:

  • Serve as the main contact person for the local business in Benelux for finance business support related topics.
  • Increase business impact by sharing of expertise, promoting a free flow of information across the organization and building collaborative networks internally and externally.
  • Champion change, actively share ideas and plans with colleagues, and encourage multiple perspectives to find new and better ways to deliver results.
     

Delivering Results:

  • Manage, coordinate and actively participate in the business discussions as a finance partner for the BeneNord region.
  • Provide evidence and reporting of budget spent to the divisions.
  • Provide feedback and detailed analysis of current and potential investments to decision makers.
  • Drive the discretionary process in the region from a local point of view towards the divisions.
  • Actively and hands on participate in the business analysis processes.
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) related and identified for business controlling are monitored and achieved.
  • Flash & Cash Flow commentary submission to Europe in collaboration with the Financial Controller BNN.
  • Ensure narratives and internal controls related to business processes under business controllers responsibility are kept up to date.
  • Tracking and analysis of Flex finance contracts and agreements.
  • Analyze country financial performance across divisions to draw actionable insights and provide recommendations to local business.
  • Guide and support the business to take decisions on well supported financial grounds.
  • Provide qualitative ad hoc analysis to support management's decision-making process, participate in projects and provide support to key stakeholders
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to ensure business objectives are achieved as they relate to tender negotiations, pricing or other commercial negotiations.
  • Provide analytical support to Commercial Business Nordic to gain a better understanding of market trends, customer trends, and sales channel performance, amongst others.
  • Responsible to support the business with discount calculations adapted to the different countries defined needs.
  • Drive the local finance forecast and budget process across the region to ensure quality submissions are provided and deadlines are met.
  • Manage assigned central projects.

  • Collaboratively work to set performance objectives, identify specific development goals, monitors own performance and provides appropriate feedback to stay on track.
  • Actively work with Q12 together with broader finance team.
  • Actively seeks learning opportunities and encourages sharing of knowledge and expertise to achieve the best possible results.
  • Act as coach and supervise the business and reporting analysts in the BNN region.

Authority

  • Independently driving the BeneNord forecast and budget process from collection to reporting, reviewing business activity, ad hock assignments and actual reporting for sales and margins as necessary for the business
  • Drive and finalize projects and tasks as per assigned by FD or European CFO
  • Suggest improvements in processes and spending
  • Approvals as per company delegation of authority
  • Full HR responsibility for business analyst

Education 

  • Fluent spoken and written Dutch and English. Any other European language is a plus
  • Degree in Business and Administration (MBA preferable)
  • Professional certification in controlling (RC/CIMA/CFA) or studying is a plus
  • Familiar with US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley
  • Familiar with a bigger ERP system (such as Oracle or SAP)
  • Knowledge in Hyperion, Danube, Encompass is a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills


Experience 


Proven record of accomplishment in Finance and Controlling including:

  • Minimum +5 years experience from a qualified finance role
  • Experience in Medical Device is a plus
  • Demonstrated success in people management, KPI & process improvement, teamwork and change management
  • Proven expertise in data analytics, ERP knowledge and project management
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Power Point and other relevant software programs

Desirable

  • Experience from working in a matrix organization
  • Experience from an international environment
