Job Description

Basic Function

The following are skills/trades that the candidate should be prepared to experience as part of this role:

  • Preparing test solutions, reagents and compounds for laboratory department to conduct analytical chemistry testing.
  • Preparing media solutions, reagents and compounds for growth promotion, biochemical, and microbiological quality control testing.
  • Performing tests to assist in development / qualification of analytical methods.
  • Analyzing inorganic and organic compounds to determine physical and chemical properties, composition, relationships, and reactions; utilizing spectrophotometric, and chromatographic techniques, among others.
  • Operating laboratory equipment like, FTIR, UV-VIS, pH meters, ion analyzers, atomic absorption spectrophotometers, Scanning Electron Microscopes, Laser Confocal Microscopes, etc.
  • Test reporting.
  • Developing comparison charts, graphs and reference files on laboratory data
  • Calculating testing results through applying determined limits and standards
  • Reviewing or analyzing test results.
  • Maintaining supply of standard reagents and solutions.

Responsibilities

The following are examples of activities the candidate will be involved in as part of job description:

  • Perform sterility confirmation validation testing
  • Performing disinfection confirmation validation testing
  • Perform cleaning confirmation validation testing
  • Perform material identification/characterization testing
  • Perform the study/project designed by Laboratory bio-chemist
  • This may include UV/Vis, TOC Analyzer, SEM-EDX, LCM, and FTIR development projects
  • Equipment qualification studies
  • Process qualification studies
  • Perform media preparation for study/project
  • Maintain equipment for study/project
  • Sample preservation, testing procedures, and operation of advanced laboratory.

Physical Requirements

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  Initial Laboratory Setup will require physical strength and maneuverability.
  • Must be able to review printed and handwritten materials
  • Must be able to communicate telephonically

Mental Requirements

  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills, superior organizational and planning skills;
  • Must be a “self-starter”, able to handle confidential matters, demonstrate initiative, possess attention to detail, have strong follow-up skills; and

Qualifications/Work Experience Preferred

  • 3+ years related technical experience

Education/Special Training Required

  • Advanced computer and appropriate application skills
  • Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (common lab equipment, volume dispensing, scales)
  • Working knowledge of basic Laboratory techniques (chemistry/biology)
  • Advanced math and technical writing skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Certificates or education in related laboratory practices
