We are currently seeking an Associate Unit Manager to join our Endoscopy Division to be based in San Jose, CA.

What you will do

As the Associate Unit Manager, you will develop, manage and coordinate the activities of a business unit to meet quality standards, production goals and cost objectives. You will prioritize production schedules based on sales demand, new product introduction, equipment efficiency and availability, materials supply and personnel.

  • Develop, coordinate and ensure the implementation of production activities, schedules and methods to attain goals and ensure regulatory compliance in assigned business unit.
  • Plan and administer procedures and budgets for business unit.
  • Provide budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect and/or overtime labor.
  • Prioritize production schedules based on product, equipment, material and manpower variables within the unit.
  • Train and/or coordinate for the training of personnel within the unit.
  • Interact, telephonically and in person and via email, with customers and suppliers.
  • Submit periodic reports, in writing and in person, to appropriate personnel.
  • Manages directly and/or through subordinate supervisors the activities of the unit.
  • Sets overall unit goals and priorities and evaluates subordinate's performance based on those goals and priorities.
  • Coaches and develops unit personnel.
  • Responsible for unit personnel compliance with company policies and corrective action.
  • Responsible for supporting new product development and the transfer into the operational business unit.

What you need

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. or B.A.) required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related manufacturing or technical experience required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of previous supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Ability to work with and assemble small objects and component parts.
  • Must be able to communicate with others in large groups and telephonically.
  • Must have good visual acuity and demonstrate fine motor skills.
  • Ability to operate common office equipment (e.g. calculator, PC, telephone, etc.).
  • Must be able to generate detailed proposals, guidelines, priorities and procedures.
  • Must be able to resolve complex issues of a moderate scope using independent judgment.
  • Must be able to routinely make decisions, which affect immediate operations and may have a division-wide effect.
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and managerial skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
