What You Will Do:

As an Associate Test Lab Manager, under the guidance from the department manager, you will provide leadership to the Labs Test Technicians and Lead Technicians on all 3 shifts.  This position will work closely with the Lab Manager and lead technician to schedule labor and test equipment to support the product development process of testing and verifying product designs. This position will be required to keep up to date key department metrics and make recommendations on resource allocations, forecasting, and ensuring the lab is prepared to fully support the needs of the business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the performance of the team based on pre-established performance parameters. 
  • Responsible for direct reports complying with company policies and corrective actions.
  • Interview, hire, train, develop and retain top talent while ensuring a pipeline of talent is established for future roles.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations/workflow of Test Technicians including but not limited to: Scheduling of test requests/activities based on established priorities, customer interface, and staffing to support the R&D BU’s and related business activities.
  • Support the Test Lab manager and coordinate with the Test Engineers on a weekly basis regarding project updates and current/future status of the overall Test Lab performance.
  • Will be in control of Test Request assignments using the current request system. This is to include, pre-review, assignment and post approval of Test Request’s, including final sign off.
  • Ensure consistent practices within the department related to testing execution, report writing and communication methods. 
  • Required to comply with documentation procedures and appropriate engineering standards
  • Coordinate with other business units to ensure appropriate tests, equipment and results are obtained
  • Work from verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Train others on technical function related procedures
  • Work with facilities in the improvement/maintenance of lab space
  • Coach/mentor and develop subordinate employees
  • Build and maintain working relationships within R&D
  • Provide feedback into department strategic planning

What you will do:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science is required
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required with a B.S.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required with Masters/PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree, preference for Masters/PhD
  • Basic understanding of testing, testing equipment, good laboratory practices, and department metrics
  • CAD (ProE, SolidsWorks, AutoCAD electrical) is a plus
  • Proficient use of common laboratory test equipment is required
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Mechanical/electrical/software problem-solving skills are desired
  • Comfortable and confident speaking in front of medium to large groups of people
  • Test Lab/ Test System experience required, Trello, PowerBI, Kirby, and Test Lab Database is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.) power tools, and common test equipment and data acquisition systems
  • Exercise discretion and independence when applying professional expertise
  • Must display a positive, can-do, collaborative attitude
  • Must be able to manage time and projects proactively
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication
  • Must be able to bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision
  • Strong project management skills
  • Must be able to analyze and correct complex processes and/or product issues using independent judgment.

Work From Home: Occasional

Travel Percentage: 10%
