What you will do

As the Associate Sourcing Manager, NPI you are responsible for all sourcing/supply chain/procurement related activities for new product introductions with the goal of obtaining the best quality, service, and value for products. Responsibility includes developing and executing a strategic sourcing plan aligned with Global Sourcing focused on supplier capacity, quality, service, strategic partnership, material cost, capacity, risk and final material logistics. You act as a liaison for all sourcing activities to Design, Advanced Operations, Finance, and Quality teams including regularly reporting material costs, managing schedules, and defining final material logistics. In addition, you may be responsible for supporting optimal cost and continued growth of legacy products.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Leverage improvements to project timelines from experience with key suppliers and project teams

  • Preliminary influence on key project team members to inspire quicker overall deliverables for projects

  • Overall supplier management of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, verification, validation and transfer to manufacturing

  • Negotiate and implement contracts and agreements (NDA’s, SOW’s, developmental agreements) supporting R&D

  • Execute RFQ’s and business award

  • Negotiate and drive direct spend cost reductions

  • Develop and ramp component sources for new products and support the NPI

  • Perform formal supply chain risk analysis and propose and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Negotiate supplier cost reductions and NRE reductions during product development and continuous cost reduction initiatives through the project lifecycle

  • Identify process improvements to either supplier or Stryker processes to drive better speed to market, quality and long-term delivery

  • Support the execution of external supplier validation requirements

  • Build engaging relationships with cross functional teams including Engineering, Advanced Operations, Finance, Global Sourcing, Purchasing, RA/QA, and Suppliers.

  • May participate in make vs buy recommendations

  • May lead supplier portions of the projects

  • May serve as technical advisor and mentor to less experienced engineers

  • Lead sourcing analysis and selection process and perform cost analyses

  • May participate in make versus buy analyses as required

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Focus in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management preferred

  • Minimum 6 years experience in strategic sourcing/procurement or supply chain for new product introductions

  • Demonstrated knowledge of new product development/introductions process

  • Ability to negotiate effectively to obtain best prices and terms on products, materials, and services

  • Project Management experience preferred

  • Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry experience is highly preferred (e.g.: aerospace, automotive)

Work From Home: Regularly scheduled days

Travel Percentage: 10%
