Responsibilities
The Associate Sourcing Manager will support the development and implementation of strategic sourcing activities in assigned suppliers and/or commodities with the goal of obtaining the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management.

The Associate Sourcing Manager will also support the development and implementation of strategies and projects related to cost reduction initiatives, new product development, supply base optimization and rationalization, quality improvements, risk assessments, and contract negotiations.

Additional responsibilities of the Associate Sourcing Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Support cross functional teams to develop best in class strategic sourcing strategies for assigned suppliers and/or commodities in support of business objectives
  • Support a contract strategy for suppliers and create, negotiate, monitor and enforce where applicable
  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers as well as other disciplines within the businesses. Represent the ‘voice of the supplier’ in the organization
  • Participate in new product launches; lead supplier selection, requests for quotes and ensure that suppliers are clear on product launch deliverables; collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful launch
  • Participate in assuring cost standards are established for annual operating budgets
  • Develop and lead cross functional teams and lead the process to create strategic commodity plans, consolidation strategy, and spend/supply assessments taking into account total product life cycle needs
  • Participates in sourcing analysis and selection process and performs cost analyses and make versus buy analyses as required
  • Identify supply base risk and develop/implement mitigation plans.
  • Obtain and communicate market condition information and technology trends related to commodities and suppliers
  • Utilize market trends to identify and implement appropriate cost controls and business strategy changes
  • Collaborate across functions, divisions, and campuses to develop scorecards and business reviews for key suppliers

Job Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or similar is required for this role. A Master’s Degree or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is preferred, but not required.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing and supplier development
  • Ability to negotiate effectively to obtain best prices and terms on products, materials, and services
  • Knowledge and application of supplier contract strategy, negotiations, contractual terms and contract administration
  • Working knowledge of ISO13485 standards and requirements preferred. Supplier Audit experience in quality system standards: FDA QSR, ISO13485 and ISO9001 preferred
  • Project Management experience and solid understanding of project management tools preferred
  • Manufacturing management, manufacturing engineering, buying, production planning or product development experience is preferred
  • Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry experience is highly preferred (e.g.: aerospace, automotive)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement strategy and market drivers
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate difficult concepts to all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of supplier processes and supply chain risk factors, including experience in assessing and mitigating risk in the supply base
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies & cost reduction methodologies
  • Experience with supplier metrics & measurement methodologies and supporting systems
  • Strong skills in leadership, influencing, communication & presentation, troubleshooting & problem solving, analysis, strategic thinking, and collaborative team building
  • Strong judgment with the ability to make and communicate timely and sound decisions
  • International sourcing and supplier management experience preferred
