Job Description



Seeking a passionate Prototype Lab leader to develop people, processes, Equipment, and technologies as a valued business partner and enabling best in class product development outcomes.

  • Manage a team of prototype Technicians.  This includes overseeing design and build of components, assemblies, prototype fixtures, and tooling
  • Manage all prototyping assets (equipment, supplies)
  • Develop and improve processes related to workflow and materials management
  • Investigate and implement new technologies for improving the efficiency, speed, and quality of part development
  • Able to develop strategic direction and goals for the prototype lab and provide clear and timely progress updates
  • Ability to build strong relationships cross-functionally to align and deliver on Product Development objectives
  • Maintain department budget, including budget planning, and accountability to accuracy of projections
  • Experience creating and maintaining a diverse team culture of inclusion and collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to select, develop, and engage talent in alignment with competency development business goals
  • Proven ability to performance manage individuals to achieve improved business results
  • Ability to work through ambiguity or unplanned issues to achieve business results


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering preferred.  Mechanical/Electrical are preferred degrees.
  • 5 years minimum engineering/technical experience with significant industry knowledge across fields in areas of manufacturing, Fabrication, and Assembly
  • Demonstrated leadership with 0 to 2 years experience leading a team in a service, support function, R&D or equivalent technical team. Prior leadership experience preferred.


Other Requirements:

  • May involve prolonged periods of stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, sitting, standing, and/or crawling as appropriate.
  • May be required to move materials up to 50 pounds, reach, push, or pull in order to accomplish job accountabilities.
  • Coordination of eye, hand, and/or foot movement with an ability to grasp by hand and meet cognitive demands to include visual and auditory discrimination/memory, reading ability, and memory retention ability.
  • Requires use of safety glasses in designated areas. * Closed-toe/heel shoes must be worn on the production floor; safety shoes are recommended.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems in a high stress situation.
  • Eagerness to assist internal and external customers.
  • Individual must positively contribute to the desired collaborative and inclusive team culture
  • Possess attention to detail.
