Job Description

The Associate Privacy Counsel will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, processes, and policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations to support a cohesive global privacy program. This attorney will:

  • Develop and implement strategies, processes, and policies to ensure enterprise-wide compliance with US privacy regulations.
  • Support the continued development of the Global Privacy Strategy, with a focus on accelerating business growth, enabling business opportunities, and mitigating risk.
  • Provide timely advice on US privacy requirements. Assist with the negotiation of complex Business Associate Agreements and other privacy agreements.
  • Provide support to Legal and Compliance, IS, and other partners in evaluating and responding to internal/external audits and internal security incidents and breach investigations.
  • Advise on privacy issues related to the acquisition and use of data for commercial purposes.
  • Advise on privacy issues associated with M&A activity,, including due diligence and integration.
  • Advise on engagement and interaction with healthcare regulators in the US (e.g. HHS, OCR, FTC, State AGs).
  • Represent Stryker’s interests in relevant industry groups.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of current and emerging laws and regulations and provide training and updates to Stryker policies as necessary.
  • Assist on other matters as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Law degree and admission to practice law.
  • Minimum 3 years' applicable professional experience.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
