The Associate Manager, Research Engineer leads the testing development, provides technical mentoring to the test engineering staff, delegates tasks for large projects, and is assigned to advance projects through the research process. Manages the team and department expenses.

What You Will Do

  • Manages a team of test engineers who are the technical leaders for all product testing, internally and externally.
  • Manages resource planning, expense budgets and team development.
  • Oversees all technical requests to ensure that the needs are satisfied and that all safety and efficacy requirements are met.
  • Reviews, provides feedback, and approves verification test reports.
  • Manages lab technicians, machine calibration/maintenance, and lab organization.
  • Set direction and manage test engineers within the scope of assigned projects.
  • Mentor engineers in best practices, industry trends, and other engineering skills.
  • Works on continuous improvements for the lab including processes, procedures, and equipment.
  • Establishes an area of expert product testing and research knowledge.
  • Work with / lead outside agency and standards development groups.
  • Act as a liaison between the Senior Leadership Team, R&D Managers and Testing group.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of research and development experience, medical device industry preferred
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Experienced managing direct reports including developing, coaching team building and performance reviews.
  • Provides technical leadership and mentoring for the test engineering staff.

Work From Home: Occasional

Travel Percentage: 10%
