What you will do:

The Senior Additive Design Engineer is a key member of the Additive Technology team, focused on developing additive-enabled designs along with divisional R&D and Advanced Operations counterparts. The Design Engineer will be an embedded member of the product development teams and work hand-in-hand on design concepts that lead to new products to be launched from the Additive New Product Introduction team.

  • As an Additive Senior Engineer, CAD/CAE Engineering, you will partner with design teams to design, and bring new products to market for Orthopedic Surgeons to allow them to perform their procedures to their plans.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Advance Operations to understand the additive process, product requirements, and use additive design methodologies to improve performance of new and existing products.
  • Under little or no supervision prepares 3D models, layouts, drawings and designs to engineering specifications. Through the use of various design software, systems and internal processes, create deliverables ensuring design outputs, manufacturability, and compliance to regulatory and quality systems.
  • Develops and trains colleagues regarding modeling, layout, design and assembly.
  • Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
  • Will aid in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, have manufacturability and are reliable.
  • Will work with Technical Leadership and project management team on breaking down work, scheduling, risks, and project updates.
  • Will interact with customer to support determining requirements and validation of requirements.
  • Will write and expedite engineering change orders.

What you need:

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering Graphics, Mechanical Engineering or related curriculum
  • 2 years minimum CAD/software design related experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and have the ability to understand geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
