The VP, Commercial Transformation & Development oversees the Global scope, design, build, test & deployment functions on the Stryker ERP transformation program. This individual will also ensure that all partner program and global application delivery is complete to scheduled timelines, budgets, and deliverables. This leader is deeply involved in improving the consistency, predictability, and efficiency of the organization's global program delivery capability. The VP, Commercial Transformation & Development provides leadership in best practices and is highly customer-focused -- outward and upward and that these are consistent with customer expectations. This global leader must also ensure that the operational issues of the PMO are managed, focusing on the project interface with project leaders, project teams, technology, and interface issues. In addition, this role oversees global project costs and makes sure they are well managed, monitors any dependent program profit and cost reporting for each project, and ascertains that benefits are achieved and recorded efficiently and timely from a project management point of view.

The VP, Commercial Transformation & Development is responsible for leading our program directors and teams, ensuring that the global service delivery providers in the area of planning/forecasting, staffing, and executing all resources to all Stryker IS Projects, Infrastructure, and Business Unit Focused.  These global programs will include multimillion-dollar transformational projects such as, but not limited to SAP Manufacturing, CRM, and PLM initiatives.  This leader will establish the process around this critical need in a global deployable manner. The leader will also track and resolve any quality concerns with assigned resources and required capabilities for proper service delivery.

As a direct report to the VP IS Global Application Development & ERP Transformation, the candidate will provide leadership, coordination, and hands-on expertise in the areas of application governance, architecture, design, development, testing, and operations. Significant experience in global ERP and Cloud Solutions is required. Aptitude to learn and apply new technologies is an absolute must-have.

As a direct report to the VP IS Global Application Development & ERP Transformation, the candidate will provide leadership, coordination, and hands-on expertise in the areas of application governance, architecture, design, development, testing, and operations. Significant experience in global ERP and Cloud Solutions is required. Aptitude to learn and apply new technologies is an absolute must-have.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

  • Establish the short- and long-term goals for the global ERP program.
  • Manage the productivity and performance of the global ERP program staff and external partners.
  • Exercise management authority in performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, and other current employee decisions.
  • Achieve results both within the IT Applications department as well as influencing and collaborating with team members in other areas of the organization.
  • Provide both technical and professional mentoring to the members of the IT organization.
  • Executive stakeholder communication.

Additional responsibilities

  • Operate as a Player-Coach within the SAP program team to Plan, Code, Build, Test, Release, Deploy, Operate, and Monitor enterprise-grade technology solutions leveraging the right combination of SaaS and custom in-house development.
  • SOP disruption. Partner with IT and Business leaders to evaluate standard operating procedures to replace manual, inefficient workflows with Commercial based solutions.
  • Continuous evaluation/evolution of our application technology standards to stay current with industry best practices.
  • Influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the ILT; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the function’s financial status.
  • Manage organizational cash flow and ensure accurate forecasting.

Education & Special Training:

Functional Skills

  • Strong technical and financial foundation to include an undergraduate degree in computer science or a related technical field is required. An MBA or advanced technical degree is strongly preferred. The successful candidate should have at minimum 20+ years of information technology experience in roles of increasing complexity with global financial management.
  • Proven project management skills. The successful candidate must be comfortable understanding technical requirements, explaining solutions guidelines, and driving teams towards delivery dates. This leader will have good customer facing skills, the capability to break down barriers, and the agility to move throughout an organization at all levels to serve the business.
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework driving a service management-oriented approach to IS is required. A track record of utilizing this methodology to develop a current state assessment and roadmap for the future state operational environment is expected.
  • Expertise and previous experience in driving offshoring and outsourcing relationships are also required as the successful candidate will continue to evolve Stryker’s current operations environments with key strategic sourcing partners. An ability to outline the current and future state of these partnerships and manage key SLAs will be critical.
  • Strong process and best practice methodology and portfolio management skills are required. Ensuring consistent delivery of projects and programs on time and within budget and scope parameters while meeting the business expectations and ongoing service/support metrics is expected. Experience with Six Sigma, ITIL, or other similar process methodologies is preferred.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Large, global company experience ideally gained in a fast-paced, evolving environment is highly desired. An understanding of the multi-channel, diversified consumer & manufacturing company would be ideal and would assist the successful candidate in gaining credibility with the business.
  • Experience and demonstrated understanding of multiple functional areas within SAP S4 HANA to include RTR, FTS, OTC, & PTP is required. Also required is to demonstrate a clear understanding of integration with SAP PI/PO and how SAP is connected within the existing Stryker enterprise ecosystem.
  • Recognizing the manufacturing and supply chain complexity of the business, this leader will ideally have experience in a consumer products or industrial company setting. Operational experience supporting a multi-channel, complex supply chain environment would be additive.
  • A proven track record of leading significant change and transformation is required. The successful candidate must be an expert in building capabilities, driving change readiness, utilizing best practices, and driving metrics and discipline on complex IT initiatives. A history of leading teams through transformational challenges is required.
  • Expertise and previous experience in leveraging an outsourced model are also required as the successful candidate will work closely with outsourced partners supporting the company’s development, maintenance, and infrastructure efforts.
  • Foundational experience gained in a well-managed, process-oriented, and financial metric-driven company is required. An ability to apply best-in-class methodologies to a legacy environment is crucial as is an understanding of how to drive value through the adoption of new service delivery models.

The successful candidate must effectively communicate cross-functionally and at a variety of levels within the organization.
  • A proven team builder. He/she must be dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and coaching leaders to help build a bench of IT talent for the corporation. The successful candidate must have a track record of building highly effective teams in transformation environments.
  • Succession potential is required. The successful candidate must have the potential to be viewed as a succession candidate to the Global IT Operations Tower Leaders as well as within the global IT organization.
