We are currently seeking a Staff Software Engineer located in Kalamazoo, Michigan

What you will do:

  • Design software for Surgical Robotics, Machine Vision, Augmented Reality / Virtual Realty (AR/VR), Internet of Things (IoT), motor controls, communications protocols and other leading-edge technology development.
  • Designs develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities. Determines systems software design requirements.
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency. Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures.
  • Software developer will work with other engineers in multiple disciplines including Electrical, Mechanical and Controls.
  • Be able to receive description. Create User Story, Requirements, Software Architecture, Software Design, Unit Tests and Informal Testing.
  • Be able to learn and understand the inter-workings of a multi-platform system, integrate their software and informally test functionality.
  • Algorithm or numerical intensive programming, need to be able to program, test and understand if the code implemented the algorithm properly
  • Be able to ramp up, enhance, debug and assume responsibility for existing C and C++ applications.

What you need

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline or related field with 5 + years minimum total experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, computer science, electrical engineering. any type of software degree, computer engineering
  • Primarily C/C++ design and development experience
  • Time-Critical or Real-Time Application Development
  • Linux, Windows and/or RTOS (example VxWorks) experience is desired
  • Knowledge/experience with Object Oriented design, Inheritance, Polymorphism, Virtual Classes and Virtual Functions or Methods experience is desired
  • Embedded software, from “bare metal” to Yocto is desired
  • Previous experience working in Medical or other regulated industry is desired
