WHO WE WANT

We’re looking for an experienced industrial engineer with the ability to influence teams to execute plans and deliver results.  Someone who is an advocate for operational excellence and efficiency; a self-directed leader who can anticipate and overcome obstacles and communicate effectively to all levels within the organization; and a medical device industry professional who is passionate about providing superior quality products to patients and customers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will provide Industrial Engineering and Lean Manufacturing leadership within the Business Process Improvement Group and across the site.

You will be a member of one or more cross-functional operations teams tasked with effectively launching new product introductions and will lead teams to deliver business process improvement projects integral to the site’s strategic growth plan.  You will have the opportunity to:

Implement and Analyze lean process improvements to reduce cost and improve efficiencies in partnership with the business. Perform and evaluate work measurement and workflow analysis for the establishment of standards and the utilization of production facilities. Develop plant and equipment layout, capacity plans, workflow and accident prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities. Provide product assembly instructions and standardizes assembly practices. Evaluate new techniques and technological developments for inclusion in the production process.

LEAN MANUFACTURING

  • Drive and support the advancement of Lean Manufacturing culture, principles and practices across the plant and work with local leadership to create and drive the Lean vision for the plant
  • Coach, mentor and lead project groups through Stryker Production System and Lean Lighthouse initiatives.
  • Identification of improvement opportunities and initiation of project teams to achieve site goals and facilitating the removal of barriers to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Constantly promote, educate, and instill culture of identification and elimination of waste throughout the plant within manufacturing areas and also in support / transactional areas.
  • Ensure that Lean activities and projects are linked such that the entire value stream is addressed, and maximum benefit is extracted from Lean activities.
  • Lead, coach and mentor project groups through Stryker Production system initiatives

NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

  • Provide support and drive Born Lean initiatives for new product introductions
  • Development and sustainment of COGS models for new products

ENGINEERING STANDARDS & CAPACITY PLANNING

  • Establishment of standard times through work measurement.
  • Preparation and presentation of engineering standard data in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Work with Finance to manage the annual update of the Engineering Standard Times for the site.
  • Conduct Production capacity analysis and provide input to the integrated business planning process
  • Develop Capacity scenarios to assist Operations in identifying suitable flexing strategies
  • Provide support to manufacturing as required to meet the business targets and Objectives

SPATIAL PLANNING & OPTIMIZATION

  • Work with Process Development, Production, Facilities and Manufacturing Engineering teams to lead facility/line layout design and implementation projects.

EDUCATION/SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in engineering or science field required (Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, Operations, Production, etc.)
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (preferred)

QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 6 years relevant Lean, Operations or Industrial Engineering experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a medical device environment preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Lean/IE tools and methods.
  • Flexible and capable of working substantially free from routine supervision in a demanding, changing environment with a professional attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional project teams utilizing sound project management skills.
