Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery

Looking for a way to differentiate your practice? Mako enables you to have a more predictable surgical experience when performing joint replacement surgery. The current Mako System offers Partial Knee, Total Hip and Total Knee applications.

What You Will Do:

You will be responsible for maintaining clinical and technical expertise for all MAKO robotic product and provide clinical or application support to MAKOPlasty specialists, Field Service Engineers, Clinical Training, all Sales personnel & Distributors. You’ll work with other departments to ensure that current and future products meet all service, quality and performance requirements. Works with Engineering and Product Marketing to develop demonstration tools to display MAKO products.

Role Expectations:

•    Maintains the highest level of MPS certification in at least one application.
•    Maintains tier 1 field service engineer (FSE) training.
•    Maintains Segmentation Specialist certification for all available applications.
•    Provide support and expertise in service department development projects.
•    Forecasts and maintains inventory for all products developed by Clinical Application Support.
•    Maintains all Clinical Support tools and machinery per required guidelines.
•    Identifies, defines and drives development of new tools, processes and procedures required to support new and current product demonstration.
•    Acts as a subject matter expert for support of MAKO products.
•    Performs centralized segmentation and implant planning.
•    Responds immediately to Clinical/Application questions and inquiries from Field Service Engineers (FSEs), Customer Service Representatives (CSR), all Sales personnel and Distributors via telephone, fax, email, and on-site at customer locations.
•    Maintains accurate records of all support related activity in the service business management system.
•    Assists with root cause investigations
•    Participates in exploratory testing and other engineering verification and validation activities to familiarize with new products and provide input on product improvements, serviceability, and potential customer support occurrences.
•    Drafts and distributes Customer Support Bulletins to the field on relevant topics.
•    Develops, tests and implements tools or programs connected with segmentation support.
•    Maintains Clinical Application Support documentation and handles Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as required.
•    Uses knowledge of Linux based RIO applications to trouble shoot application issues.

• Role requires 24/7 availability: You will need to be available by cell phone 24/7 (except during approved time off, emergency personal situations, etc).

Education and Special Training Required:    

•   Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical engineering or other engineering discipline. 

•  1-3 years of Engineering experience preferred. Experience with CAD design tool (i.e. SolidWorks) preferred.
•   Have the ability to remain calm under pressure with excellent interpersonal skills..
