The Director of National Accounts is responsible for developing Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) relationships within the Group Supply Chain and Clinical Resource chain of command in order to position and gain awards on our product offering for long-term contract positions.  This role will provide consistent, clear communication and strategy to field management and sales representatives on programs, upcoming contract positions and competitive intelligence on their GPO.  Working closely with Marketing, the Strategic Account Managers and Area Directors, the ideal candidate will develop a plan of action and strategic positioning within the key shareholders of their GPO. 

  • Present new product offerings, programs and value added services that will continue to position Sage as the company of choice for patient care needs within the GPO healthcare facilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of terms and conditions of all major contract language and comfortable in working/communicating with legal on negotiation terms and conditions.
  • Successfully negotiate contract positions within all major GPO portfolios allowing our sales professionals access to sell in every healthcare market and product category.
  • Ability to address customer (GPO) concerns/needs in a timely, professional manner while maintaining the integrity of our negotiated terms and conditions.  Need to continually position the most recent awards from the GPO/IDN as the ideal contract while keeping the value added benefits in the forefront of the decision makers and end users.
  • Consistent communication with sales management team (Area Directors, Regional Managers and Strategic Accounts Managers) in order to strategize, debate and discuss new opportunities, defensive situations while maintaining the integrity of our pricing and rebate positions across all portfolios.
  • Attend appropriate major GPO and customer conferences/exhibits throughout the calendar year.
  • Ensure all customer correspondence, presentations and analysis is completed efficiently and effectively as instructed by the manager of the account (GPO/SAM).
  • Communication of current projects and identification of problems or opportunities allowing the team to function more efficiently.
