The Job's Mission

The Brand Marketing Director, Trauma and Extremities, will have ownership of the existing and future product portfolio and will report directly to the VPGM Trauma and Extremities, Europe.  The successful candidate will have responsibility for formulating and executing an effective strategic product marketing plan to drive above market growth of market share and operating income.  

The leader will be responsible for planning, organizing, leading all product related activities of the T&E business to deliver sustainable growth and drive profitability for the European Division of Stryker Corporation.  Specific responsibilities include delivering, development and implementation of strategic product marketing strategy including budgets, financial plans, collaboration with the various stake holders of the matrix organization.

What will you do:

As  a core member of the European Trauma and Extremity Leadership Team your core focus will be on:

  • Drive and deliver on upstream business linkages
  • Commercial Strategy
  • Product Life Cycle Management
  • Product Launches,  Marketing Plans and execution
  • Business Analysis and Pricing

Play a key role in the development of cross functional business strategies. All the time driving performance excellence in Sales/Marketing systems and processes for Stryker’s T&E Brands.

  • Lead together with the Innovative Solution Marketing Director the strategic sales/marketing planning process for T&E, defining its overall strategy and setting key business performance objectives and agree on commitments with country leads in a coordinated manner with the rest of the team.
  • Develop and recommend short and medium term product business plans for the division and associated tactical activities to ensure sales, operating profit and business plans are achieved.
  • Identify and execute on strategic growth opportunities by market via entrance and exit strategies as well as mergers and acquisitions for the business.
  • Consult and communicate with all areas of the company (US & International marketing, new product development, R&D, global manufacturing) to assist in the understanding SYK’s global product marketing and business strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Innovative Solution Marketing Director to define value proposition for the existing and future product portfolio.

Provide leadership, direction & coaching to your team of European Brand Managers and Business Analyst; ensuring the strong development and engagement of the team.

Ensure alignment with Country Marketing Teams,  providing marketing competency;  common guidelines across all geographies

Define Business Unit Product Sales Targets and Business Reviews:

  • Ensure an effective Product Life Cycle management process
  • Ensure effective Brand and Portfolio alignment.

Manage Product Launches:

  • Work closely with the US and the Innovative Solution Marketing Director to implement key Brand product introductions into Europe
  • Establish an effective product launch process for brands that will deliver high impact product launches with excellence in planning, implementation & monitoring.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the local marketing organizations as they roll out the launch locally.

Partner with key stake holders team to help develop appropriate business and market intelligence strategies

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree and an MBA/Business Masters is desirable
  • Proven track record in International marketing and/or sales management/leadership in a multinational medical device company. A combination of marketing and P&L experience is ideal.
  • Proven experience from implementing initiatives resulting in significant market share growth and delivery on financial commitments.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing programs to evaluate market characteristics and trends, and position and differentiate products/services in new and existing markets.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; strong cross-functional influencing skills; plus the ability to relate well to colleagues & surgeons from varied divisions, markets & cultures.
