We are currently seeking a Staff Embedded Software Test Engineer located in Washington, Redmond

What you will do:

  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities. Determines systems software design requirements.
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  • Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures.
  • Staff Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for developing embedded test software in a regulated environment and will contribute to projects, under the direction of the lead software engineer or architect. 
  • Contributing ideas to early product concepts
  • Contributing to software design decisions
  • Working closely with systems engineers to define interfaces
  • Working closely with hardware engineers to define platforms
  • Working closely with software architect on high-level software test design
  • Bringing up new boards
  • Documenting software test detailed design
  • Implementing software and unit tests according to design documentation
  • Supporting software integration on the hardware
  • Troubleshooting systems integration and software
  • Ensuring deliverables and work products adhere to the quality system

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable engineering discipline or related field
  • Strong C/C++ coding experience in an embedded/RTOS environment
  • 5 plus years applicable experience   
  • Experience bringing up new boards is desired
  • Experience with one or more POSIX-compliant real-time operating systems is desired
  • Hands on experience with ARM processors (e.g. OMAP, i.MX) and microcontrollers (e.g. MSP430, PIC) is desired
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to follow good software development processes is desired
  • Personable, able to work well in an open team environment and with outsource partners is desired

Work From Home: Occasional

Travel Percentage: 10%
