Job Description: The Professional Affairs Specialist ensures compliance to the AdvaMed Code of Ethics and the State regulations that govern Medical Devices Manufacturers.  They are responsible for educating others about these Regulations and Codes as a subject matter expert.

  • Partner with one or more business units to manage requests for new contract proposals through internal review and approval cycle to completion.  (e.g. Healthcare Professional (HCP) Consultant, Research, Facility, Indirect Channel Agreements).
  • Collaborate with business partners to create understanding of the contract terms for the business.
  • Ability to learn and operate in a variety of Compliance databases.
  • Audit existing and current contract paperwork for compliance to applicable laws, corporate policies, and department procedures.
  • Work closely with the Legal department on status reports and assist in facilitating timely Legal review.
  • Interact with HCPs surrounding contract issues.
  • Provide a positive customer experience for both internal and external customers.
  • Create and maintain metrics surrounding the contract process.
  • Develop efficiencies and process improvements to the contract process.
  • Will hold themselves and the business to a high standard of ethics and compliance and will report any incidents or violations.
  • May provide Compliance guidance and training for others.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or other relevant field of study.
  • OR Associates’ Degree with at least two years of relevant work experience.
  • 0-2 years compliance experience in medical device industry.
  • Demonstrated efficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other web-based systems.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and interpersonal.
  • Effective organizational and analytical skills.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, etc.
  • Must be able to review printed material.
  • Must be able to communicate with others telephonically.
  • Must be able to use common office equipment (e.g. PC, telephone, fax machine, etc.).
  • Ability to understand and explain detailed compliance programs and/or issues.
  • Ability to comply with constantly changing compliance procedures and prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve non-routine compliance issues using independent judgement.
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the written word, form usage, etc.).
