The Manager, Financial Reporting Hyperion Systems will report to the Senior Manager, Consolidations and Internal Reporting and will be responsible for business management of the Hyperion applications, including, Hyperion Financial Management, FDMEE and Hyperion Planning, used by the global organization for both close consolidation and forecasting. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for the oversight of Hyperion maintenance requests, planning, reporting and implementing various Worldwide Reporting initiatives including the accounting and system integration of recent acquisitions into Stryker’s global consolidation process from a financial systems perspective, which will include learning and transitioning legacy processes and providing solutions for supporting it in the Stryker reporting applications. 

As the Hyperion system Manager, this position will be responsible for the oversight of Hyperion maintenance requests, leading system changes, testing, and overall business support around the Hyperion suite of applications. This will include acting as the primary liaison between Worldwide Reporting and the Hyperion Support team within Stryker IS. Additionally this role will manage the team responsible for Hyperion training development and facilitation of training for all applications.  

In addition to providing direct support to the Senior Manager, Consolidations and Internal Reporting, the Manager will work closely with team members as well as the broader Stryker finance community including Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Tax and Financial Planning & Analysis to ensure the applications are meeting the evolving needs of the business.

The ideal candidate will have strong financial and analytical skills, experience and knowledge of Hyperion applications, global financial reporting experience and strong management and leadership qualities.


  • Manage partnership with the IS department in administration and maintenance of Hyperion suite of applications (HFM, Hyperion Planning, FDMEE and Essbase)  -including working with customers to determine necessary changes, testing and validation of change in development/QA environments, and confirmation of the migration to production.  Also responsible for leading the communication/education of changes to end users.

  • Manage partnership with the IS department on processes and procedures around Hyperion Systems Disaster Recovery Plan, Internal and External IT Audit, and policies around Hyperion Servers including maintenance.  Maintain system related SOPs in partnership with IS Department support.

  • Lead the process of providing best in class customer service to Hyperion end users in collaboration with Stryker IS.  Must be able to independently research/troubleshoot and resolve financial and IT related issues.

  • Manage system preparation activities including month-end close prep, opening system for projection and budget timing in collaboration with FP&A team, and the loading of FX rates into the appropriate scenarios.

  • Manage the development of the annual Hyperion training plan and lead the facilitation of live training events in partnership with the FTD team – work with locations to develop trainers at each site. Lead maintenance efforts for all training materials and documentation.  

  • Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance within designated areas of responsibility by managing processes and ensuring all documented controls are observed per our internal controls process flows. This includes evaluating the effectiveness of established internal controls and making recommendations for enhancements or modifications to existing processes and systems.

  • Taking on ad hoc and project work as needed including developing best practices across the broader Worldwide Reporting and Controller’s group, supporting system upgrades and implementations, taking the lead on sub-projects when representation is needed, preparing ad hoc analysis for special requests of management and providing training within areas of expertise to key stakeholders across the broader Finance organization

  • Drive an agenda of continuous improvement throughout all areas of responsibility to ensure “best in class” performance. Develop policies and procedures that support Stryker’s business objectives to ensure maximum accuracy and efficiency from our human and technical resources.

  • Interact and foster relationships with various levels of management at Stryker’s domestic and international subsidiaries, including Stryker’s IT department regarding all HFM needs and requirements. 

  • Manage and develop team.  Currently one direct report.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or MIS with a strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting concepts.  CPA/MBA preferred but not required.
  • 8+ Years accounting experience
  • Previous experience working in a global consolidation system such as HFM is a strong plus, preferably in the medical device or life sciences industry
  • Strong background and understanding of US GAAP accounting and reporting
  • Strong Problem Solving Skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, business acumen and ability to use independent judgment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with and influence senior leadership
  • Strong proficiency with MS Excel required (Pivot Tables, V Lookups, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and demonstrate comfort, creativity, and initiative in the assumption of new projects
  • Collaborative and flexible with an ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Passion to develop skill sets and grow within an international business
