What you will do:

Leads computer engineering and software development including conception, development, and integration of products and processes that meet business needs across the organization. The incumbent will manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise and be involved in long-term planning that contributes to overall business strategy. This individual will conduct computer engineering research and development activities on projects of a very sophisticated nature involving multiple departments within organization. The incumbent will coordinate efforts of other engineers by delegating tasks, conducting code review, and providing guidance in service of organizational goals.

  • Develops software solutions by studying information needs; project goals; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; and following software development lifecycle.
  • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, diagrams, and charts.
  • Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Writes, modifies and debugs software for customer applications.
  • Tests and documents software for customer applications.
  • Conducts systems analysis and provides recommended changes.
  • Manages third party vendor relationships.
  • Manages relationships and daily activities of outside contractors including software coders, app developers and other technology consultants.
  • Coordinates efforts of internal and external software development resources
  • Develops safeguards and solutions for Protected Health Information of users.
  • Incorporates latest changes in healthcare compliance to ensure adhering to HIPAA or other patient protections for healthcare IT applications and tools.
  • Acts as a gatekeeper, reviewing code of other developers to ensure it is consistent and valid.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred
  •  3 to 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Experience developing data-driven applications
  • Experience building web-based software systems
  • Proven ability to develop and troubleshoot complex software systems that run in mixed environments
  • Experience in software design, software testing and software architecture.
