The Director, Upstream Marketing is responsible for driving new product development  plans for diverse and complex products to drive brand preference- delivering market and share growth. The Director, Upstream Marketing defines and delivers an integrated innovation plan utilizing new product development and M&A in collaboration with other marketing team members and cross-functional partners. The Director, Upstream Marketing develops productive relationships with the R&D, business development, the sales organization, key opinion leaders, and other stakeholders to fully understand product performance and customer needs.

  • Defines and executes innovation strategy to achieve divisional revenue goals within allocated budget.
  • Develops and recommends strategic new product development plan to gain greater market share, improved revenue and increased penetration.
  • Assesses potential markets to provide insight and input into new product development projects, M&A and divestitures decisions.
  • Provides advice and counsel to senior business leaders about strategic opportunities to grow brands and financial results.
  • Monitors sales and market trends and makes recommendations for enhancing market penetration and share growth- including inputs to 5 year strategic plan
  • Fosters an environment of continued capability enhancement and professional development of upstream marketing department
  • Leads cross-functional pre-commercialization teams to successfully prepare new products for seamless transition to downstream launch partners
  • Collaborates with customers, marketing intelligence and third-party sources to monitor, understand and respond to competitive product performance, branding, messaging, and tactics through innovation
  • Engages reimbursement and clinical teams to ensure robust market-access capabilities for new products
  • Cultivates key customer relationships, working productively with physicians and the field sales organization to gain market insight, obtain voice of customer, and validate direction of development projects
  • Strategically engages and inspires salesforce through progess updates, innovation councils, and other activities
  • Engages global marketing partners to ensure all appropriate geographies are included in voice of customer, product design, and launch scope activities
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 10+ years relevant experience required.
  • Advanced understanding of business strategy, marketing brand and business plans, product launch strategy and support, marketing and sales execution and sales support preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of creating high-performing teams and evidence of managing manager-level employees preferred
