What you will do

As a Detailed Production Scheduler for our Instruments manufacturing plant in Kalamazoo, MI, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a valid weekly Master Production Schedule and inventory levels of finished goods and for ensuring that adequate capacity exists to meet requirements for specific products and options in time periods relevant to the customer. 

You will partner with and facilitate ongoing communication with the Supply Planning and Manufacturing teams in order to ensure that finished goods support the Master Production Schedule, ensure accuracy of the projected capacity requirements from the detailed capacity plan, resolve identified production problems which could result in new build rates and completion due dates, provide timely corrective action to ensure that available capacity will support customer requirements and maintain established productivity goals, expedite material requirements through the supply chain, and assist with the review and communication of finished goods and service backorder.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Alter the production start dates by cascading work order, accepting expedites, removing push outs
  • May be responsible for monitoring the Master Production Schedule for orders with past due operation due dates or orders whose dates are in jeopardy. When past due operation due dates are found, works with Integrated Business Planning/Customer Service to communicate new completion dates
  • Participate with the production and supporting department supervisors to analyze capacity plans in the short, medium, and long-term planning horizons in order to resolve capacity problems
  • Support change management and quality requirements including changes orders, change details, non-conformances and corrective actions

What you need

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required.  Degree is business, engineering or supply chain management preferred.  APICS or other related certification preferred
  • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, planning and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and demonstrated ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze large amounts of data and use data to make business decisions
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, JDE, AS400, etc.)
  • General knowledge/understanding of principles of supply chain management, design & strategy
  • Excellent communication, presentation, partnership and influence skills and ability to communicate well to all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across various levels; must be able to diplomatically persuade others and effectively drive change
  • Strong customer service mindset and ability to deliver operational excellence in customer service
  • Strong drive, persistence, results orientation and ability to sustain high energy
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with problem-solving and process improvement orientation
