Responsible for launching new accounts through working with the Account Executive and District Sales Manager in the final stages of the sale to ensure flawless execution of the launch matrix.  Ensures the Mako Experience includes superior site and staff training/ support; fosters positive adoption of the Mako Robotic System and its utilization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: training surgeon(s) and hospital staff, setting up CT protocols and consignment.  The point person for all account related issues until an assigned Mako Product Specialist (MPS) is placed.

Qualifications and Work Experience: 

  • 2 years as a successful Sr Mako Product Specialist (preferred)
  • Mastery level of proficiency of orthopaedic implant procedures and orthopaedic robotic applications
  • Proven success partnering with surgeons who are experienced and inexperienced in orthopaedic robotic procedures
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult learning methodologies and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience developing and/or working with surgical techniques and training for physicians preferred.
  • Demonstrates Stryker’s Leadership Expectations and serves as a cultural champion in day to day actions and behaviors
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Operating Room environment (orthopedics preferred)
  • Ability to operate a PC and use Windows based software
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated / directed, detail oriented and a proven history of ability to make independent decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment

Education and Special Training Required:

  • High School diploma.  Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related technical field of study.
  • Stryker Robotics Certifications: PKA, THA, and TKA

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads account launches, partnering with Capital and Implant Sales teams, Training Department, Clinical Application Support and Field Service to ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Provides surgeons and operating room staff with training and Clinical support in the operation of the company's robotic arm applications, associated equipment and instruments to insure precise implant placement
  • Uses proprietary software to prepare pre-operative CT scans for use in conjunction with the company's Mako Robotic System, assists surgeon in preoperative implant planning, implant sizing and positioning
  • Maintains and controls local Mako consigned equipment, instrument, implant and disposables inventories and submits Mako case order details to customer service order administration
  • Works with site Radiology and IT departments to complete installation of DICOM image transfer utility.
  • Completes certification process and Mentoring of permanent site Mako product Specialist. This includes MPS acceptance by staff surgeons.
  • Conducts 90 Day Launch “Wrap-Up” meeting to ensure all customer expectations and requirements have been satisfied.
  • Supports company Bio-Skills Labs assisting Mako Training department with the education of prospective Mako Robotic System surgeon users.
  • Continually enhance clinical and Mako Robotic System knowledge through on-going training and annual recertification
  • Communicate learned “tips and tricks” to Clinical Application Support team for verification and possible inclusion in training curriculum 
  • Partners with Implant Sales Representative in maintaining and enhancing a strong relationship with the surgeon and hospital staff
  • Act as the Advanced Hip and Knee “experts” augmenting the Education, Product Management & Engineering departments as it relates to new product introduction.
  • Provides complete reports and associated metrics to management, direct supervisor and company's regulatory department detailing case reviews, services performed and recommendations for product, documentation and methodology improvements
  • Communicates customer feedback and system issues promptly via the company’s CSO process
  • Supports Mako clinical affairs team on Mako clinical studies to ensure they are executed appropriately and that all data is collected and communicated in a timely manner while respecting all aspects of HIPAA regulations
  • Solves customer and/or product issues in an expeditious manner
  • Provides case coverage at unassigned accounts as needed
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance on Mako Robotic System as required.
  • Works closely with Customer Advocacy team on High Profile CSO events to ensure prompt complete closure and total customer satisfaction
  • Must maintain current credentials as required by Stryker and clinical sites (i.e. EHS training, vaccination requirements, HIPAA certifications, etc.)
