This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your legal expertise to make healthcare better. You will work collaboratively with Senior Leadership and the Senior Division Counsel on all legal matters in a high-volume environment with a chance to leverage your expertise in contracts, negotiation, compliance, acquisition integration and more. In this role, you will:

  • Provide strong independent contribution for solutions to problems that could have a significant impact on the business and the company as a whole
  • Prioritize issues and coordinate with project groups to develop solutions to complex problems
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business in order to provide relevant advice related to multiple issues and making decisions related to legal matters that could have a large financial impact on the company including in compliance with laws, investigations, contracting, government relations, sales agreements, tender agreements, tax matters, supply or vendor relationships, litigation and intellectual property, among others
  • Deliver timely results by prioritizing a large number of issues
  • Understand the business and stakeholders in order to make appropriate decisions affecting all areas of the organization including regulatory, finance, human resources, operations, supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, sales, and marketing, across the business, divisions and all geographies.
  • Draft, edit, and negotiate basic contracts independently  
  • Handle complex commercial matters through to resolution with direction        
  • Provide timely advice and counsel to the division          
  • Advise the business on laws, regulations, and Stryker policies        
  • Provide in-house training and education    
  • Follow and implement internal processes
  • Work closely with compliance business partners to provide timely advice and support to the business         
  • Collaborate and communicate with colleagues, management, and outside counsel

You will need:        

  • Law degree and admission to practice law
  • Minimum 3 years applicable professional legal experience
  • A thorough understanding of all areas of the division including other functions (regulatory, finance, human resources, operations, supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, sales, and marketing, among others) as well as other divisions and geographies
  • Ability to interact with outside organizations including industry associations, law firms, vendors, customers, government agencies, court systems, regulatory authorities, law enforcement authorities, consultants, health care professionals, and contractors, among others          
  • Good judgment and professional demeanor    
  • An ability to work effectively with colleagues in a global organization         
  • To embrace and support change in a dynamic environment    
  • To work independently and in a team  
  • Good analytical and drafting skills           
  • Experience providing legal advice in a highly regulated environment preferred           
  • A commitment to integrity and accountability  
  • To provide guidance and direction to others    
  • Good communication skills and ability to convey legal principles clearly and concisely       
  • A basic understanding of business financials and reporting        
  • Ability to allocate resources effectively and, where relevant, has a general understanding of the budgeting process, expense and headcount management           
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage numerous projects and conflicting demands in a fast-paced environment         
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of organization        
  • Integrity - maintain confidential information  
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
