What you will do

You will lead a team of R&D engineers to design and develop next generation products for the prevention and treatment of acute stroke. You will represent R&D on a cross-functional product development team and coordinate the R&D functional responsibilities to ensure project success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with project team, R&D team and management to meet project team goals.
  • Influence project team by driving collaborative cross-functional decisions.
  • Develop R&D project objectives; maintain and execute detailed R&D project plan; periodically present status, issues and risks to project team and management.
  • Identify, communicate, and manage technical risks and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Work together with physicians to obtain feedback on customer needs, test methods and performance of new devices.
  • Ensure that customer needs, design inputs, design outputs and test methods are clearly defined and enable successful design verification and validation.
  • Author or approve design control documentation to effectively and efficiently meet quality system requirements and regulations.
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, build and test products and develop processes.
  • Work with existing/new vendors to supply prototype builds and materials that progress toward manufacturable components.
  • Design and coordinate complex engineering tests and experiments.
  • Analyze and draw conclusions from complex test results, then summarize and communicate results and conclusions.
  • Troubleshoot, communicate and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide work direction to entry-level engineers and technicians.
  • Self-manage time and complete tasks with minimal guidance


What you need

  • B.S. degree in engineering or applicable technical field (mechanical or biomedical preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience (advanced degree may be considered toward years of experience)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in medical device industry
  • Project management experience in addition to good technical capabilities to develop products on time and within budget.
