We are currently seeking a Staff Designer, Engineering Services located in Plymouth Minnesota

What You Will Do:

  • Prepares and maintains detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications typically using computer-aided design software.
  • Works closely with design originators (e.g., engineers, designers) to resolve design details or discrepancies or to prepare drawings of unusual, complex or original designs which require a high degree of precision using computer-aided drafting (CAD) or computer-aided engineering (CAE) equipment.
  • Creates, modifies and controls detailed two- and three-dimensional parts and assembly drawings from engineers' and technicians' sketches, plans and written and verbal instructions. Develops and maintains drafting standards and procedures.
  • Evaluates and recommends purchase of CAD/CAE-related computer hardware and software.
  • The job requires attention to detail in making evaluative judgements based on the analysis of information
  • Analyzes documentation and confers with engineering staff to resolve details not completely captured or defined in specifications.
  • Will use CAD or appropriate software tools to manipulate models’ layouts and programs to meet new specifications.
  • Submit engineering drawings and documentation through appropriate control and approval processes.
  • Write and expedite engineering change orders.
  • Submit periodic reports on assigned topics to appropriate personnel.
  • May train and/or assist in the training of others on design related topics.
  • Coordinate component, tooling and system acceptance with suppliers.
  • Interact with internal assets to facilitate the delivery of prototypes and models.
  • Contribute to assembly, test, and design analysis.
  • Oversee the coordinated efforts supporting delivery of electrical/mechanical/software assemblies
  • Responsible for training or developing junior associates.
  • Direct and support qualification and validation activities for equipment
  • Lead projects and be responsible for timeline, cost and direction of resources assigned to project
  • Prepare and provide cost estimates for projects
  • Act as Solidworks PDM Standard vault administrator to maintain design revision control and organization of CAD data.

What you need:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Graphics or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience.
  • Experience with CAD or appropriate software tools to manipulate models’ layouts and programs to meet new specifications
  • High level of experience with Solidworks including experience with PDM Standard 
  • Additional experience with PTC Creo a plus.
