Job Description

Under general supervision, plans and conducts in-silico based anatomical optimizations of trauma and arthroplasty products. For this purpose applies a unique CT based bone data base and related software tools (SOMA). Utilizes results as input for implant and instrument design improvement.
 

Responsabilities

  • Prepare Stryker Orthopedic Modeling and Analytics (SOMA) planning and conduct analyses.
  • Provide guidance to Engineering teams when reviewing and interpreting SOMA analyses and when drawing conclusions for products design.
  • Participate in the Design Review process and contribute design input, verification methods, acceptance criteria and design output based on own simulation work.
  • Gather input for design and evaluation of new products. Identify potential issues and engage surgeons in discussions of these.
  • Partner with project teams and Device Evaluation on test method development, reliability testing and shape optimization through SOMA.
  • Assist Sr. Staff Engineer as a mentor to cross functional design teams to develop new products as well as address design issues.
  • Evaluate the need for new SOMA functionalities and agree software user need within SOMA application team. Liaise with SOMA innovation team to realize new software functionality.
  • Contribute to proper SOMA functionalities by conducting and documenting validation campaigns per the Stryker Valgenesis validation tool.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in computer modeling methodologies.
  • Experience in the function, clinical issues and performance requirements of orthopedic implants preferred
  • Experience in design controls within a regulated industry.
  • Experience with a parametric CAD package. Prefer PTC Creo
  • Demonstrated understanding of Finite Element Analysis preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of medical device design / shape optimization through SOMA or SOMA like tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of orthopaedic surgical procedures and associated user needs preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge in computer system validation
