Job Description

  • The Senior Financial Analyst -- to be based in Kalamazoo, MI -- performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements and capital expenditure schedules. Prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Provides financial support, including forecasting, budgeting and analyzing variations from budget. Analyzes and prepares statutory accounts, financial statements and reports. Conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects. Job duties and responsibilities:

    • Key business partner for the Instruments Support functions and BU finance teams.
    • Drive accountability and accuracy in the Instruments financial results and projections.
    • Perform month end close procedures for the Instruments support functions.
    • Responsible for divisional consolidation of Flash and Actual into HFM.
    • Continue to refine the business unit allocation process and develop standard reporting to explain overage/underage in spend.
    • Monthly deep dives into accounts where the divisional spend is increasing and identify root cause and strategies for reducing spend if possible.
    • Assist the Instruments compliance function with respect to account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews as necessary.
    • Assist with Instruments Acquisition Accounting.
    • Assist the Instruments FP&A function in developing reporting for month end reporting as needed.
    • Ad hoc requests from leadership as necessary.

    Education and Experience:

    • 2+ years accounting experience required.
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
    • CPA or CMA preferred.
    • Advanced Excel experience required.
    • SAP experience preferred.
    • HFM experience preferred.
    • Blackline experience preferred.
