Stryker Sustainability Solutions – overview

Stryker Sustainability Solutions (SSS) provides a remanufacturing service helping hospitals reduce expenditure and their environmental impact. Our portfolio incorporates EP Catheters used in some Cardiology procedures and Laparoscopic Direct Energy devices amongst others. Whilst well established in the US and other parts of the World, Remanufacturing is relatively new to the UK. MHRA guidelines published in 2016 provided the regulatory pathway and we have support from high within the DH and category Towers providers. Several hospitals are already on board with more on the way providing the necessary case studies to draw from.

This vacancy is born from the Market Development work already delivered and is a key hire in the growth of this business. The expectation is that the successful person will drive the business forwards from this good starting position and will enjoy all the benefits of joining in the early stages of expansion.

As a Sales Business Manager for Stryker Sustainability Solutions you will be primarily responsible for meeting and exceeding sales objectives for accounts within a defined geography but there will be wider responsibilities including working with some of the Procurement Hubs, National Development Units/Entities and other Stryker franchises. This is a fast growing and emerging business with a lot of potential. The successful candidate will need to be ready to apply skills synonymous with working in a start-up albeit with Corporate backing. You will represent Stryker as the leader in our industry and the marketplace by building and maintaining strong business relationships with key stakeholders and HCP’s both within Hospital Trusts and aforementioned national entities. There is a requirement to be capable of managing a high-volume activity, drive market growth in line with expectations and implement a multi layered strategy to capture new business and deliver growth.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Develop the market and build revenue streams for Stryker Sustainability Solutions in the allocated geography and in doing so exceed sales targets.
  • Maximise current Sustainability Solutions business – meet all existing customers within the first month and create an immediate impact plan to meet challenges and develop opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with potential new customers through presentations and discussion detailing the remanufacturing process and benefits to the customers organisations to a point where they agree to implement our programme. This should be aimed at all key stakeholders.
  • Become a remanufacturing expert – demonstrate full Stryker Sustainability Solutions product knowledge and understand fit within the market. Time in cases in the Labs will assist with product placement. Case support during trial is sometimes required, outside of that it is minimal. Assisting the labs with stock control and ensuring orders are being placed is a requirement of this role.
  • Research, develop and execute territory specific business plans – create a working document, aligned to corporate strategic aims, with clear, measurable outcomes. This ultimately will be with the aim to exceed sales targets
  • Demonstrate continuous development – have an agreed Personal Development Plan and play a leading role in it’s content and development.
  • Lead development and implementation of SSS within any Stryker cross franchise & KAM submissions – liaise and collaborate with other Stryker colleagues in your accounts to optimise “One Stryker” opportunities and customer relationships. This will include work with the local Business Development Managers in appropriate accounts

What are we looking for?

  • University graduate preferred but not essential
  • In hospital medical device sales experience with proven track record is essential.
  • Commercial acumen including a working knowledge and an appreciation of NHS procurement is also essential.
  • Computer skills, MS Office.
  • Presentation skills with modern presentation media.
  • Workshop/demonstration skills/training skills.
  • Good working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to construct a business plan, highlighting daily, weekly and monthly objectives.
  • Have an ability to build rapport and understand the importance of relationships in selling.
  • Able to engage with customers at different levels.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner both with colleagues and customers.
  • Self-disciplined, focused and organised.
  • Must show initiative.
