Job Description: The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the long term strategic direction of product lines.  Identifies new opportunities, evaluates opportunities based on potential success factors, and works with customers, engineers and 3rd parties to take those products from ideation to market launch.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating and driving the marketing strategy including deep knowledge of the current product offering, call points, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Build a network of sales reps/regional managers/and customers that can be leveraged for project feedback.
  • Conduct primary market research including direct customer visits, blinded phone interviews, online surveys, focus groups, etc.
  • Prepare market estimates, sales forecasts and financial models for early stage opportunities in order to determine prioritization and potential impact of projects.
  • Oversee the coordination of engaging customer feedback sessions with the goal of fully understanding their needs/desires/fears/motives which may include observing operating room procedures.
  • Oversees the execution of labs for product feedback sessions which will include securing lab space, scheduling surgeons, and procuring tools and specimen.
  • Identify new opportunities in the market by monitoring medical device journals/websites and  participating in tradeshows.
  • Determines market entry strategy for product ideas which may include acquisition, licensing, supply agreements, product development.
  • Responsible for the analysis and decision making for the annual strategic planning process.
  • Work with engineers to deliver technical solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Research and understand market potential, market drivers, and market trends.
  • Analyze competitive landscape and proposes product/technology positioning.
  • May manage a team of marketing professionals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in related field (e.g. marketing, software, engineering, etc.)
  • Experience required: At least 5 years in a related field
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Experience in successfully developing and introducing new products
  • Experience and proven track record in developing and implementing Marketing strategies
  • Experience building and executing strategic imperatives for an organization
  • Previous experience (5+ years) in Marketing / Product Management
  • Previous experience in digital product management, market insights, interoperability and software/application development preferred
  • Must be able to generate and explain detailed forecasts, guidelines and procedures
  • Must be able to analyze and resolve non-routine marketing issues using independent judgment
  • Must be able to routinely make decisions which may affect immediate marketing operations and have a divisional effect
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.
