As a Software Engineering Manager you will provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team members. Advise on development strategy, effort estimations, resource growth and allocation while supporting the team on investigations of defined issues with uncertain cause including input solicitation and data gathering that help differentiate the symptoms and root cause of defined problems and propose problem resolutions

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage Team budget.
  • Manage resources and tasks to ensure timely and effective project completion according to the project plan.
  • Coordinate with program management team members on establishing project scope, workload, priorities, and schedule.
  • Drive the growth of the team through the recruitment of top performing talents and personal development of team members.
  • Develop and improve tools and processes to continuously enhance the quality of Stryker’s product line and efficiency in product development.
  • Develop expertise and offer mentorship on software development.
  • Enforce the thorough application of Stryker’s quality procedure.
  • Convey status to management and team members on a frequent basis. Articulate issues and make recommendations to the Program Managers and other senior management team members as appropriate.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or related science).
  • Master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in design and development of complex products and medical devices would be preferred
  • 3-5 years in management or project leadership experience in goal setting, coaching and counseling.
  • 3-5 years experience in application software development of medical products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software engineering, development, best practices and computer science fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory standards and quality processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, organizational problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated communication and documentation skills.
  • Must be able and flexible to work well under changing priorities in a high energy and demanding environment.
