In this role you will:


Provide technical leadership, managerial oversight, and administrative project management for a software engineering team. Responsible for the planning, coordinating, monitoring and execution of new and current data solutions products. Responsible for software in high-level system designs, requirements definition, integration of software deliverables, acceptance planning and reporting. Acts as the focal integrator for outsourced or contracted software deliverables on product development and sustaining projects.  This position is responsible for leadership involvement in key corporate systems specifically, Quality Systems.  The position is also responsible for budget management, planning and staffing associated to the department.  Provide software project engineering support for the data solutions team.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a software engineering team on a major program/function to develop new or modify existing data solutions products.
  • Provide technical coaching and mentoring for team at both high level and detailed level, to ensure product quality. Should be highly experienced and proficient at coding, able to get up to speed quickly with a code base.
  • Establishes operational objectives and assignments for the data solutions team, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers where applicable. Objectives are based on department objectives.
  • Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning functional areas, divisions and/or customers.
  • Manage team members including organizational planning, goal setting, and talent development.  Support the recruitment, training and development of team members to achieve long-range growth objectives.
  • Responsible for monitoring and improving processes related to the department’s function.
  • Definition and implementation of software development plans and standards.
  • Release planning, including integration points across all SW teams.
  • Responsible for the technical execution and on-time delivery of the project.
  • Manage vendor relationships for software development tools.

What You Need

  • BSEE or BSCE
  • 10+ years highly applicable and relevant functional management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • 7+ years of SW design experience

What We Would Love You to Have (Preferred)

  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Strong technical skills and commensurate leadership in the software engineering together with excellent interpersonal, administrative, communication and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of software development processes, planning, budgeting, staffing, controlling.
  • Experience in medical device/regulated development.
  • Able to influence individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet project objectives.
  • Personable, able to work well in an open team environment and with outsource partners.
  • Experience leading off shore development and test teams

Other Things To Consider

  • Office environment requiring significant time (>75%) using standard office equipment including computer keyboard, monitor and mouse
  • May require extended hours during critical project milestones
  • May require occasional domestic and international travel (<10%)
