Job Description

The Lead Financial Analyst -- to be based in Kalamazoo, Michigan -- will be a key member of the Customer Care Finance team within Stryker's Instruments division. This professional will support business accounting and financial reporting for the Customer Care Finance team, which provides customer equipment support and servicing post-sale.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with internal and external customers to review actual spend, and forecasts of future expenditures.
  • Analyze month-end variances.
  • Provide performance reporting and analysis, including recovery plans.
  • Perform business functions, coordinate activities for department and execute specified business projects for the Global Service business.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to provide exceptional communication, coordination, gathering and analyzing data and metrics to provide meaningful data insights to the Global Service business leaders.
  • Vet financial projections for business excellence initiatives.
  • Provide project specific financial analysis and make recommendations in the selection of projects.
  • Analyze trade-offs in spending and project schedules.
  • Produce reports on labor and hours related to projects and development.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
  • Ensure GAAP principles are adhered to.
  • Prepare journal entries with auditable support.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Analyze variances and provide explanations to management.
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance testing as required.
  • Capital investment analysis and financial modeling.
  • Advise business partners on capital vs. expense guidelines.
  • Perform complex Excel modeling and NPV & ROI calculations.

Education and Experience:

  • BA or BS in Business, preferably Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analyst or related role.
  • Comfortable extracting and manipulating large amounts of data with MS Access or similar tool.
  • Detailed knowledge of ERP system transactional flow and resulting financial entries.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Hyperion, Host Analytics or similar tools preferred.
  • Cost accounting and financial analysis experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
