Job Description

This individual will be part of a finance team supporting new product development for the Advanced Operations (AO) team. This professional will be responsible for providing meaningful business analysis on financial and business-related issues to support the approval of capital expenditure requests (CERs). This role will serve as a key partner with AO across multiple business units at our Instruments and Medical businesses in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Further responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the capital investments across Stryker Instruments & Medical R&D and AO, partnering with project owners to ensure due diligence of investment process, developing tracking models, and control and report spend.
  • Be a subject matter expert in relation to capital expenditure requests.
  • Manage the new product development CER process for Stryker Instruments and Stryker Medical to ensure compliance with the corporate approval process.
  • Partner with AO, R&D, operations & marketing teams to build robust financial models to support CER approval.
  • Present financial models to AO and Operations leadership to support CER approval.
  • Manage and develop relationships with cross functional teams within Stryker.
  • Support the projection process for all AO departmental spend and headcount.
  • Manage the preparation of the annual capital budget and ongoing capital spend projections throughout the year.
  • Monitor performance and provide business intelligence & analysis to all levels of management to enable the business to meet its commitment and respond to targets.
  • Raise attention to mitigate business and financial risks & take advantage of potential opportunities.
  • Be the main point of contact for Advanced Operations to ensure all finance needs are met.

Education/Special Trainings

  • A degree in Accounting, finance, or equivalent discipline is required.
  • A recognized professional accounting or finance qualification is preferred.


  • At least 4 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • A thorough understanding of accounting and financial principals, budgeting, reporting, financial analysis, and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills with the ability to manage several priorities at once will be required as will a high level of flexibility with a high-level commitment to success.
  • Excellent accounting & finance knowledge and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Must be able to bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Bring a positive attitude to all business challenges.
